Large agricultural vehicles are a common sight across regional NSW, especially during planting and harvest seasons. These machines help keep our farming communities moving, but they also require extra care from all road users.

Council Road Safety Officer, Steve Bloomfield recommends that when driving near tractors, trucks, headers, sprayers or other oversized farm equipment:

β€’ Slow down and be patient
β€’ Only overtake when it’s safe and legal
β€’ Watch for wide turns and es**rt vehicles
β€’ Keep a safe following distance
β€’ Obey all road signs and road rules.

Mr Bloomfield said, β€œIn NSW, agricultural vehicles may legally travel on public roads under specific conditions, including displaying warning lights, signage and operating within approved dimensions. Drivers must still follow road laws, and motorists must also respect the rights of these vehicles to safely use the road network.”

β€œA few extra moments of patience can
prevent serious crashes and help keep
everyone safe from farmers and workers
to local families and visitors travelling
through our regional communities.”

Steven Bloomfield
