🌟 Staff Spotlight – Jake O'Rafferty 🌟

Many students and staff will know Jake O'Rafferty as one of our friendly and familiar SLSOs around the school. Whether he's working with students in the classroom or supporting staff throughout the day, Jake is always happy to help and get involved.

He has built strong connections with students through his approachable nature and genuine care for their learning and wellbeing. Jake is someone students enjoy working with, and he plays an important role in helping create a positive and supportive environment across the school.

🏉 PASS Excursion - State of Origin 🏉

PASS students recently enjoyed an excursion to Sydney, where they were able to experience the world of elite sport up close. Students toured the GWS Giants Training Facility, took part in practical activities, and gained valuable insight into careers within the sporting industry. A major highlight of the trip was attending the thrilling State of Origin match at Accor Stadium. The excursion also included a tour of the SCG, giving students the opportunity to explore one of Australia’s most iconic sporting venues. Throughout the trip, students represented the school exceptionally well and embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm.

🌟 Staff Spotlight – Mr David Fellows 🌟

If there’s one thing you can count on when you walk into a Mr Fellows science lesson, it’s enthusiasm!

Mr Fellows brings a huge amount of energy and passion to his teaching, and his love of science is impossible to miss. Whether he’s explaining a scientific concept, setting up a practical activity, or sharing an interesting fact, his excitement for the subject helps make learning engaging and enjoyable for students.

What makes Mr Fellows such a great teacher is the genuine passion he has for what he does. He loves all aspects of science and is always keen to share that knowledge with his students, encouraging curiosity and helping them see the world through a scientific lens.

Then there’s Mr Fellows’ well-known appreciation for rocks. What starts as a simple question can quickly turn into a fascinating lesson on geology — and honestly, that’s part of what makes him such a great science teacher!

Mr Fellows brings a lot of enthusiasm, knowledge, and positivity to our school, and we’re lucky to have him as part of the Junee High team. 💙💛

🌟 Staff Spotlight – Mrs Crane 🌟

Many people know Mrs Crane through her valuable work as an SLSO, supporting students in the classroom each day with care, patience, and encouragement. 🥐 🍩 What a fantastic P&C Canteen Day! 🌭 🍭

A huge thank you to our amazing P&C and our superstar canteen manager, Maree, for putting on such a great day for our students last Friday!

Our canteen is a much-loved part of Junee High School, and we're so grateful for everything it does to keep our students fed, happy and ready to learn. A special shoutout to Maree for the incredible work she puts in every single day behind the scenes – our school simply wouldn't be the same without her.

Judging by the student feedback, it's safe to say the food was a hit!

🌟 Staff Spotlight – Ms Sharene Mackay 🌟

Not every member of the Junee High team is here every day, but Ms Sharene Mackay has certainly become an important part of our school community. As our Hub & Spoke teacher, Junee High is her hub school, while she also provides casual teaching support to schools across the area, including our local primary schools.

Ms Mackay's role means no two days are quite the same, but she approaches every opportunity with a positive attitude and a willingness to help wherever she’s needed. Whether she’s stepping into a classroom at short notice or supporting staff and students throughout the school day, she does so with flexibility and a smile.

She has a great sense of humour and brings a relaxed, approachable energy wherever she goes. Her ability to slot seamlessly into school life and support our students and staff is something we greatly appreciate.

We’re very grateful for the contribution Ms Mackay makes to Junee High and the support she provides not only to our school, but to schools across the wider community. 💙💛

We are incredibly proud of Talia-Rose and Tyson, who represented Junee High School at the National Sorry Day Ceremony held at the Sorry Rock by Wollundry Lagoon.

The ceremony began with a smoking ceremony, formal acknowledgements, cultural dance performances, and a minute's silence to honour members of the Stolen Generations who did not return home. Together, Talia-Rose and Tyson shared an original poem that discussed both female and male perspectives of the Stolen Generations.

Thank you to both students for representing our school community with such maturity and respect. The day concluded with an opportunity for connection and reflection over morning tea.

✨ This Week’s GEM Chat: Emotional Literacy ✨

This week, we're focusing on recognising and understanding our emotions by thinking about the things that make us feel excited.

Excitement is an important emotion to identify because it helps us recognise what we enjoy, value, and look forward to. Taking a moment to reflect on why we're excited can help build emotional awareness and deepen our understanding of our feelings.

Whether it's seeing friends, playing sport, attending an event, enjoying a favourite activity, or simply looking forward to some downtime, everyone's answer will be different.

What's something you're excited for today or tomorrow—and why are you excited about it? Share your thoughts in the comments and help us celebrate the positive emotions within our school community!
