As we move through some very hot and dry conditions, we’re asking our community to stay extra vigilant to help keep our town safe.

🚫 Total Fire Bans When a Total Fire Ban is declared, no fires of any kind are permitted outdoors. This includes campfires, solid fuel BBQs, and any activity that could create sparks. Please check official updates each day before starting any outdoor work.

⏱️ Prohibited Burning Times We’re currently in the Prohibited Burning Period, which means all open-air burning is not allowed. This includes garden waste, burn-offs, and paddock burns. Even small fires can escape quickly in these conditions.

🚭 Cigarette Disposal Please make sure ci******es are fully extinguished and disposed of responsibly. Throwing a cigarette out of a car window or onto dry ground can start a fire in seconds. Use proper ashtrays and double-check they’re out before walking away.

Your awareness and care make a huge difference. Our volunteers are always ready to respond, but preventing fires in the first place is the best way to protect our community.

Jurien Bay VFRS will be conducting road crash rescue demos and running a sausage sizzle at the Turquoise Festival tomorrow, 08/11/25 from Noon

Come past and say hi to the crew, we will be located just outside the entry gates (near the cafe). Look for the big red truck 🚒

🚨 This Month at Jurien Bay Fire & Rescue 🚒

This month has been a busy one for our dedicated volunteers! 💪

🔥 We've responded to a number of calls for help, both structural fires and road crash rescues. Proudly supporting our community when it’s needed most.

🚒 Our team has also been sharpening our skills with a range of essential training:
* We attended a Pump Operations Course in Jurien Bay, sharpening vital skills that keep our team safe and effective on the ground.
* We completed an On-Road Driving Course to ensure our crews are well equipped and safe on the road when responding to calls.
* Our volunteers also participated in Breathing Apparatus Training, learning how to safely navigate hazardous environments during structure fires and HAZMAT incidents.
* We covered Incident Reporting Training, so we can maintain the highest standards in our operations and accountability.
* A number of members attended the annual AFAC in Perth. This event was packed with valuable insights on new changes to fire practices & cutting edge technology.

🌾 And as we look ahead to the high bushfire season, we’ve been hard at work preparing — including preparations for mitigation burns to help reduce the risk before the heat ramps up.

💡 Reminder: As we gear up for the bushfire season, now is the time to prepare your property! Clear gutters, trim back overhanging trees, and create a defensible space around your home. Small steps now can make a big difference when it counts.

As 2024 comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank our incredible community. From emergency responders to sports clubs, and from volunteers helping neighbours to those making our town a better place – Jurien Bay is full of amazing people who give their time and energy for others.

To everyone who supported us this year, whether through kind words or a friendly wave as we drove by – thank you. Your generosity and community spirit keep us going.

As the festive season kicks into full swing, we remind you to stay safe. Look after yourselves, your families, and your friends. We’d much rather wave at you in town than be called to the fire station to come help.
