Behind the Mask Masquerade Ball Paul, and his charismatic personality, hid the depths of depression that since he’s been gone, we are now being forced to deal with.

Having recently lost my husband to su***de following his long battle with depression and anxiety, I find that the next step in my healing process is to try and help raise awareness of mental illness. Sadly, no one was aware of his inner turmoil and self doubt. So when he took his life in September last year, it came as a shock to everyone. Depression does not discriminate, it can affect anyone. It

s’ not just the person with the illness that is affected, it is family, friends and work colleagues. In telling mine and Pauls’ story, which has ended too soon, I hope to encourage people to start talking and get help; and understand that depression is not a taboo subject. As a family, we don’t want to pretend it didn’t happen. Instead, we choose to celebrate Paul’s life. It helps us deal with the loss. We have had overwhelming support from local Kalgoorlie Business, with only a few packages left. Tickets will be released one we have sold our sponsorship tables. The date has been set for Saturday 3 November - further information about the ball itself will be sent to those who purchase tickets.
