The Young Guns group kicked off this term by baking ANZAC biscuits with Mr “T-Bone” Dennett. As the smell of butter, oats, and golden syrup filled the room, students worked together to measure, mix, and shape the dough.

The activity helped students build practical cooking skills while also developing teamwork, communication, patience, and self-control. Everyone shared jobs, followed instructions, and stayed focused, taking pride in the finished biscuits.

It also connected strongly to the Rock and Water program, giving students a chance to practise respect, resilience, and cooperation in a hands-on setting. Students showed “rock” strength by staying calm and focused, and “water” flexibility by adapting and working together.

Best of all, the group enjoyed the delicious biscuits at the end — a rewarding finish to a fun and successful session.
