Valley Bees

Valley Bees Valley Bees is a group of people specializing in native bees and honey bees who come together at least 3 times a month to share knowledge and passion for bees.

The commitment of Valley Bees is to nurture and maintain the population of all bees in the local environment. To achieve this, a network is necessary to support the individuals and groups who want bees in their area: honey bees, native social stingless bees and native solitary bees. This commits us to be aware of management strategies to support the bees, to create an environment conducive to thei

r on-going sustainability, and to focus on the nurturing of the Australian native bee populations in balance with the management of the honey bee, as all are needed to pollinate the extensive diversity in native flora, and native and introduced food plants. Some of the threats to the sustainable maintenance of bees are the damage caused by introduced pests and diseases and the reduction of habitat, resource loss and introduced flora. Valley Bees is a community-centred group which supports and coordinates the protection and management of bees to benefit the environment and horticultural industries in all their diverse rolls. There is a particular emphasis on the people who wish to maintain bees as part of their environment. http://www.honeybeefarm.com.au/

A Message From a Bee: If You Can Hear Me, Let the Flowers Grow Again
Hello, dear human.
I know I’m small. You might not even notice me when I pass by. But I see you. I see your gardens, your windows, your streets… and lately, I see so many empty places where flowers used to be. I don’t have a voice that can shout. My wings hum softly, my life is quiet—but today, I need you to hear me.
I am a bee.
I don’t just live for myself. Every flight I take, every pollen I carry, every flower I visit—it’s all for something far greater. I pollinate your food. I help trees bear fruit. I keep wildflowers alive. I support entire ecosystems you may never see. The air you breathe, the meals you eat, the beauty that surrounds you… it all begins with a tiny act of pollination.
But I’m tired.
More fields are paved than planted. More weeds are sprayed than spared. The flowers we once trusted are vanishing. And with them, so are we.
Sometimes I fly for miles and find nothing—no bloom to land on, no nectar to feed on. My sisters leave the hive and never return. And still, we try. We always try. Because that's what we do—we work for life.
But we cannot do it alone anymore.
Please, plant flowers. Fill the spaces between concrete with wild color. Let your garden be messy, let your lawn be kind. Dandelions, clover, native blossoms—these aren’t weeds to us. They’re baby bottles for our young. They’re the lifeline between extinction and hope.
Protect the Earth, not just for us, but for your children. Their future depends on what you do today. Imagine a world without bees—without apples, strawberries, sunflowers. Without color. Without song. Without life.
It’s not just about saving us.
It’s about saving yourself.
I know you care. I see the children who stop and smile when they hear our buzz. I feel the joy when someone plants a flower just because it’s beautiful. You have the power to bring life back.
You don’t need a whole field.
Just a corner. A pot. A seed.

World Bee Day 20/5/2021

The main purpose of World Bee Day events is to spread awareness of the significance of bees and other pollinators.
We all have a role not only to save bees but to manifest an environment where bees can thrive.
World Bee Day is an excellent opportunity to put bees at the centre of the global conversation and encourage actions.
We need to end greedy farming practices that use herbicides, fungicides and insecticides that poison us and bees.

Happy Mother’s Day. The bee really does know what hard work is. In her life of six to nine years she produces about one egg each minute. That works out to laying her own body weight in eggs each day. There is one queen who is the only fertile female in the hive. She is the only bee with ovaries. Second, there are about 60,000 sterile female , that do not have ovaries. From birth to about day three, they clean the hive. By the fifth day of their life, they become nursing bees because certain glands have matured inside their mouths. By day 12, their wax-making glands are functioning, so they set to making structures in the nest and storing nectar and honey. Around the 19th day of their life they begin guarding the nest with their sting. By day 21, they are halfway through their short lives and have begun to leave the nest to forage for nectar and . And then around day 42 they usually die. make up the third gender. They don't have a stinger, and they can't collect nectar. They are fertile and can make s***m. The queen will mate once in her life with dozens of these drones who die after copulation.
