What a cracking year PIP has had so far!๐Ÿ˜

PEN Round 1 done and dusted, the NT study tour, projects on multiple stations outside of PEN, creating conversations between key players in industry, and so much more.

We might be biased, but you have to celebrate the wins, right?

And boy, oh boy, the next 12 months is shaping up to be just as incredible. Stay tuned for more information on PEN Round 2.

PIP and all of itโ€™s achievements are made possible by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Meat & Livestock Australia, and Rio Tinto.

The KNAC Stockmanship Development Project is off to a great start in Newman with Steve Burke lending his expertise. Pop over to Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation or Meat & Livestock Australia to find out more!

PIP is proud to have played a role in bringing together the right people to start the conversations, build the trust, and deliver the goods. We look forward to helping more projects like this become a reality.

PIP is funded by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Meat & Livestock Australia, and Rio Tinto.

Not only are our PEN Leads from Round 1 hitting their stride with getting workshops happening on station to fill knowledge gaps, but they're also standing tall in the 'media-sphere'.

Check out Tahree from Hillside's article in the MLA Feedback Magazine and stay tuned for Shanon from Wyloo's in the next edition.

We are nothing short of proud to watch them reshape how they engage with industry, communities, and enterprises.

We LOVE seeing previous PEN Leads using their initiative like this. Tahree, out at Hillside, saw a knowledge gap that needed filling and tapped her networks to get the ball rolling. Fast forward a few steps and Hillside are hosting a reproduction workshop in May! Registration link is in the Gascoyne Pilbara Rangelands Initiative Inc. post. ๐Ÿ˜

Hillside Reproductive Workshop

GPRI is pleased to have secured funding from the Northern Hub to bring this workshop to the Pilbara.

We are excited to bring together two leaders in animal science and veterinary care. Dr Kelsey Pool from University of Western Australia and Dr Milly Watt for a Cattle Reproductive Health Workshop at Hillside Station.

Dr Kelsey Pool is the current Lefroy Research Fellow and Agri-ecosystems lecturer in a joint role between UWA and Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. A reproductive biologist, her work spans agriculture, medicine, ecology and conservation, with experience across a wide range of species. Kelsey is passionate about making science accessible and relevant to remote regions.

Her current research focuses on how environmental conditions influence reproduction, using a โ€œcell to systemโ€ approach to strengthen landscape resilience, animal health, productivity and welfare under a changing climate.

Dr Milly Watts is a large animal veterinarian with Bovitech Veterinary Services, an animal health consultant and beef producer based near Albany, WA. She has a strong focus on pasture-based systems and works with producers to improve profitability through reproductive performance and productivity.

Milly also brings experience in meat science research and processing, ensuring her advice reflects current research and practical application

One of the simplest ways to monitor the fauna on your country is observing the tracks they make. After a wet season, fresh ground means fresh evidence, and there's a lot of country out here worth paying attention to.

Stay tuned for updates on our landscape projects from PEN Round 1. And yes, that means there's a PEN Round 2. We're looking forward to sharing what's coming.

As always, we're grateful for the support from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Meat & Livestock Australia, and Rio Tinto.

A couple of weeks on from Cyclone Narelle, and a big chunk of the Pilbara is looking very different. Muddy toes and skipping rocks are the little things that remind you why a good wet season matters. For the people running country out here, that rain is more than a memory. It's feed, it's water, it's a bit of breathing room. Here at PIP, we're looking forward to seeing what this season sets up.

As are our supporting organisations, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Meat & Livestock Australia, Rio Tinto.

Look before you leap. Any leap we take on a pastoral scale needs a stable foundation and careful observation.

That means time on country, conversations with the people who know it best, and data that reflects reality, not assumptions. Which is exactly what we strive for here at PIP.

PIP is a collaboration between Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Meat & Livestock Australia, and Rio Tinto.

Cyclone Narelle certainly left some nasty damage in her wake, alongside some life-giving, gentle rain for others.
The Pilbara is literally the land of sunburnt plains and flooding rains.
If you're still staring down the barrel of a big clean-up, don't forget there's always someone around for a chat to share that mental load.

PIP is supported by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Meat & Livestock Australia, and Rio Tinto.
