Roper Gulf Regional Council is one of 18 Local Governments in the Northern Territory and encompasses 12 communities and 20 outstations spread out over an area of approximately 201,000 square kilometres. The Council’s purpose is to act as a strong advocate for its constituency of more than 7000 people, 80 per cent of whom identify as Indigenous, paving the way towards sustainable social, cultural,

economic and environmental development. To achieve this, the Council employs approximately 380 staff, who live and work across the Local Government Area, and are co-ordinated from an operational hub in Katherine. One of the key drivers of the Council is to improve the quality of life in, and liveability of, the Roper Gulf region, with the vision of making it sustainable, vibrant and viable for those who call it home.

A big thank you to Selena Uibo: Member for Arnhem for the generous donation of winter clothes and blankets to our Mataranka Aged Care clients. 🧡
The donations were warmly welcomed by our residents, who were very happy and grateful for the support for the upcoming cooler weather.
Thank you again to Selena for thinking of our Elders and supporting our community.

Our Vet Team has been busy out in community recently, visiting Ngukurr, Numbulwar and Minyerri to support animal health and wellbeing 🐾

During visits, the team provides free tick, flea and worm treatment to any dogs roaming freely around community. This helps reduce parasites across the community and improve overall animal health.

A treated dog acts a bit like a “vacuum” - wherever they go, they help kill ticks, fleas and worms, reducing the spread to other dogs.

If you notice a coloured dot on your dog, there is no need to worry - this simply means your dog has received a free tick, flea and worm treatment from our Vet Team.

📍 The Vet Team will also be in Wugularr next week for desexing operations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The more dogs we can treat, the better the outcome for the whole community ❤️🐶
