One of the challenges of trying to run a remote business is being cutoff in the wet season (no fuel, food, parts or medicine in and God help you if you need medical help and can't get a helicopter out). To be fair we normally have a pretty good access, even in the wet season. Unfortunately this year we have had a couple of things accumulate at once, primarily a very large wet season along with road drains not being cleared out for repeated years in addition to having had gravel graded off too many times resulting in water not only running down the middle of the road but back and forth causing a fair amount of damage.

This isn't even the most washed out area sadly area (couldn’t reach that one). What makes this spot interesting is that it has springs and will continue running for quite some time to come. On the upside its so wet this year we aren't driving around (late start) and so don't need to buy diesel and the cattle and country are looking quite good (cattle greatly assisted by the amount of lick we feed).

Following behind the Helimuster video, the main thing with Cabri helicopters is pilot safety, they handle smoothly (while still being VERY manoeuvrable). This little video was taken a few days ago, flying along with hands free, aircraft settled, maintaining height and heading. They are a machine that doesn't mast bump and capable of handling extreme conditions others just can't.

Good on HM Air, it's nice to see innovation coming to the N.T. If you want a well known basic machine fly a R22, if you want to come back alive, fly a Cabri. Between cost benefits and pilot safety Cabri are unbeatable which is why we have used them for 5 years successfully despite naysayers.

Australian mustering operator HeliMuster NT has been putting the Cabri G2 to work in the rugged environment of Australia's Northern Territory. We caught up w...

Crew inspection of one of the new expandable accommodation blocks. Mounting, veranda and roof to install. Should be quite nice, featuring additional exterior panels in a wood style, deluxe bathroom, upgraded stone polymer composite flooring, stainless steel extra long kitchen benches, extra roof, 3meter veranda (with railing) and double glazed glass all around to keep it cool. Should be the flashiest crew accommodation about. More pics to come once all mounted and assembled.

Perhaps a confronting subject for some but we are rather partial to meat out bush, it's kind of the perk of living in a cattle. It's bloody hard to work like we do without a high protein diet (and NO we will not "eat ze bugs" Karl) not while we have premium beef to eat anyway.

Part of station life is picking prime animals to slaughter for food supplies. A funny thing we find is that beef, like wine and cheese (and some might say women :) ) get better with age so we pick aged animals for rations. Also part of our ideologies is that we believe that while we raise an animal for meat, we want it to have a good life beforehand.

Also we find young beef has no flavour which is fine if you want to open a sauce bottle but we like the flavour profile of dry aged, grass fed fat cow or bullock. There really is nothing quite like it cooked on a wood barby. This was a well aged fat cow that we then hang at 0 celsius for several weeks before starting on.

Smoko for the day, will keep the crew full for a while. Need it to dry out more so we can get out and wear some energy off while we can still fit our jeans 🤣🤣🤣.

One of the particularities of living in the bush is that you have to get used to surprises. These chaps are good for keeping hearts beating fast when discovered without warning. Although they do form a valuable part of our ecosystem here.

We find we don't have many poisonous snakes in our homestead area. Now we put this down to our various pythons living around the place but who knows.perhaps it's just luck but we don't think so. So these chaps have a respected position, albeit having been moved to various ends of the complex when they start hanging around the puppies (or kids area as a big snake will fairly towel a small kid up).

You see some dammed funny things from time to time out bush. We were checking the stock were all good and found this little chap. Not every day you find a juvenile pink buffalo. Now we understand he is a pink buffalo and not a albino due to the colour of his horns although we really don't know much about buffalo.
