ABOUT KATOOMBA/LEURA RURAL FIRE BRIGADE
The Katoomba/Leura Rural Fire Brigade is a unit of the NSW Rural Fire Service. Comprising solely of volunteers its task is to protect life and property in the Katoomba/Leura area, greater Blue Mountains and across NSW. While its primary role is fighting bushfires and reducing the bushfire threat through hazard reduction the Brigade is often involved in othe
r emergency service tasks, such as search and rescue. The Brigade also undertaken extensive community engagement activities to better prepare the community for bushfires and other emergencies and to build resilience. The Brigade also works closely with other Rural Fire Service Brigades, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Police, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the State Emergency Service and travels to provide interstate colleagues assistance when needed.
