First day of winter has seen Fire and Rescue NSW Station 344 Kearsley attend its second residential fire today.
Fire and Rescue NSW Station 349 Kurri Kurri were first arriving appliance to a unit well alight not far from their station. Although there was no saving the unit, the exposures and next door units were completely saved with no water or smoke damage.
Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW station 202 Abermain and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 374 Maitland also attended with crews in Breathing apparatus to help bring the fire under control.
Hunter Valley Police District remain on scene, thanks also to NSW Ambulance and Ausgrid workers for hanging around helping keep us safe.

Quick response from first arriving Fire and Rescue NSW Station 254 Cessnock and surrounding stations stopped fire from completely destroying a residence in Aberdare this afternoon. Fire that started in the Garage and had started to spread into the roof cavity was quickly bought under control by firefighters in breathing apparatus from local Fire and Rescue NSW stations.

Thanks to NSW Ambulance for looking after firefighters and residents welfare and Hunter Valley Police District for your assistance.

At drill tonight we practiced our Mayday drag, we use this to quickly disrobe a firefighter that may have collapsed or fallen and we need to get them out of their gear quickly to administer first aid. Crew had a bit of fun practicing and playing the fallen firefighter.

Happy Birthday to Kearsley Fire Brigade who celebrate their centenary this month! Originally established in 1924 as a sub-station to Cessnock, Kearsley became its own independent brigade in May 1926.

Happy Mother's Day to every mum out there, and especially to the mums at 344 Station.

I think we can call today a success. Thank you to the community who came to the station, bought your families and enjoyed visiting.
To the crew at 344, thank you for making time and being there today to chat and speak to everyone about what we do, how we do it and most importantly, Fire safety in the home.
Our sausage sandwich kings, you guys did fantastic supplying all the Kearsley locals lunch πŸ₯ͺ 🀩
