Venue Profile:

Location:
Keilor only 15minutes from the Melbourne CBD, mostly suburban town however the Castle is tucked away at the top of the market gardens on 4 ½ acres of manicured gardens. What we offer:
Our main clientele is weddings which we hire out for exclusive use of the gardens and venue for on the day, however we also have an array of other events like functions, birthdays, christen

ings, conferences, hens days, engagements and a variety of public events which include High Tea’s, Children’s Days and School Holiday Events just to name a few. The Venue:
Overnewton Castle was built in 1849 and now stands as a prominent heritage building. A Scottish Baronial style castle set amidst over four acres of private tranquil English garden makes the perfect backdrop for your function. Pre dinner drinks can be held in the garden, or in the elaborate sitting rooms. The Grand Dining Room features an elegant chandelier and bay window overlooking picturesque gardens, which shadow the newlyweds as they eat their first meal together as husband and wife. Ceremonies can also be held on the property either in the private gardens, at the original 1882 Wrought Iron Gazebo or in the non-denominational Chapel which has exquisite hand painted features and a glass ceiling. The beauty of having both your ceremony and reception in the one location is that you don’t have to run around the countryside taking pictures here there and everywhere and all your guests are able to relax and have a beverage whist they wait for you to finish your photos. Rooms:
We have one dining room with a couple of sitting rooms, which allows for pre dinners to be served in an elegant room rather than an entry doorway or the back of a dining room. We can offer the gardens for a reception, however in past events we have had issues with the Melbourne weather so bare this in mind when organising an outdoor one. Marquees are welcome on the property but no pegs can be put into the grounds due to watering systems, they would need to be weighed down. Capacity:
The Dining Room has a maximum capacity of up to 150 guests for a sit down event or 200+ people for a stand up event. However we also have other rooms available for conferences with a smaller capacity so along with break out rooms. Accommodation:
There are 3 accommodation options on the property;

The cottage which features a double spa bath and balcony overlooking the market gardens, it sleeps 6 people with a king sized bed downstairs and 2 double sofa beds upstairs. Includes a full kitchen with continental breakfast, chocolates and bubbly on arrival. This is a popular option for the girls the night before the big day to get ready in and meander down to the Castle once they are ready for the formal proceedings. The Loft which sleeps 6 with a queen sized bed and 2 double sofa beds, a full kitchen, dining area and laundry with second bathroom. A popular one for the groomsmen the night prior to ensure they arrive on time J this is on the other side of the property to the cottage so the boys won’t see the girls. The Stables which sleeps up to 10 people with 3 queen sized beds and 4 single beds, it has a full kitchen, veranda, dining room, living area and a wood fire for those winters evenings too. This is a popular one for families or friends that wish to stay on the property. Menu:
Modern Australian with Thai beef salad, tortellini, risotto, stuffed chicken, steaks, sticky date pudding, pavlova, panna cotta and chocolate pudding as an example of the menu options. Our chef is very flexible though, if there is something you wish to serve that is not on the menu he will make it for you. Dietary requirements are extremely prevalent these days which we are a pro at catering for also. Packages:
We have a variety of packages to suit all budgets, from a small function of 20 people right up to 150 people. The food and beverage options are separate to cater for the people that wish to upgrade one of the packages rather than both. I’d suggest to contact the office to find out more regarding packages and what the Castle can offer you. [email protected]

Keilor, VIC – 28th Feb 2026 – This Sunday marks a bittersweet milestone for Overnewton Castle as the Norton family hosts their final High Tea and Tour after 50 remarkable years of stewardship.

For half a century, the Nortons have lovingly preserved and shared this cherished Victorian landmark, ensuring its stories endure for future generations. Reflecting on their unparalleled dedication, Emma Stott, the daughter of Dr. L.J. Norton and venue manager, shares, "This castle has been much more than a business—it's been our family's home and passion. Hosting this final event is emotional but also a celebration of everything Overnewton Castle has come to mean to us and the greater community."

The castle, standing proud for 176 years, has been a witness to countless celebrations, love stories, and moments of history. Guests have formed lifelong connections with the venue, making it a significant part of their personal milestones. "Overnewton Castle has been a thread in the fabric of so many lives," Dr. L.J. Norton once said. "Seeing the smiles and hearing the stories shared within these walls has been the greatest reward of our efforts."

The family offers their deepest gratitude to every guest, staff member, and partner who has embraced the castle as their own over the years. Whether through weddings, celebrations, or simple visits, each individual has played a role in shaping the legacy of Overnewton Castle. The Nortons will carry these memories with them as they take this opportunity to say goodbye.

"We hope you carry the magic of this place with you,” Emma adds. “Tomorrow’s High Tea and Tour will not just be a farewell—it’s a reflection of the love and history shared here." Though this chapter closes, the castle remains a beacon of history, ready to create new stories under its future custodians.

As you wander the manicured hedges and tranquil pathways, you walk in the shadow of giants. Our majestic oak tree, listed on the Botanical Heritage List, has stood watch over the property since the very beginning, while the historic Lone Pine serves as a poignant reminder of our connection to the past.
