With our Annual General Meeting (AGM) now complete, Kellyville Rural Fire Brigade would share our past year and thank the people who make everything we do possible.

Our Team
A huge thank you to our outgoing members who held positions for their dedicated service, and a warm welcome to those stepping into new roles.
We also recognise and thank all members continuing in their administrative and operational positions.

Incident Summary: June 2025 – May 2026
It has been a busy year, with 240 recorded incidents,

including:
• 66 Fire and Explosions
• 59 False Alarms
• 47 MVA, Rescue & EMS Calls
• 25 Hazardous Conditions
• 24 Service Calls
• 16 Good Intent Calls
• 3 Undetermined Incidents

These figures don’t include hazard reduction activities, deployments across the district, interstate and overseas, or the many additional support our volunteers provided/respond to throughout the year.

While our local incident numbers remain steady, our brigade is regularly called upon to support surrounding communities.

To our brigade members, thank you for your continued dedication.

We also extend our sincere thanks to The Hills District Fire Control Staff, Group Captains, neighbouring brigades, the NSW RFS, and The Hills Shire Council for their ongoing assistance and support.

As we move into the colder months, fire agencies often see an increase in house fires as residents use their fireplaces and heaters to stay warm. With temperatures dropping and possible snow forecast across parts of the state in the coming days, it’s important you know how to stay safe.

Remember, you won’t smell smoke while you’re asleep, so make sure your bleeping smoke alarms are working. A working smoke alarm can save your life and give you and your family valuable time to escape a burning home.

Over the recent ANZAC holiday weekend, we have been supporting both our local community and the wider region.

Our crews assisted the Hawkesbury District with multiple structure fires. We also responded locally to several road traffic incidents and fire calls.

In addition to emergency responses, we spent two days conducting hazard reduction works to help manage local fuel loads.

We also proudly supported ANZAC Day commemorations services in both Kellyville and the March in City.

To complete these tasks, our team have travelled over 260 km and dedicated more than 100 person-hours of volunteer time.

Would like to thank our volunteer firefighters for time and effort under some challenging environment and times.

BANNERMAN ROAD HAZARD REDUCTION

Just letting the residents in the Annangrove, Kenthurst, Kellyville and Glenhaven areas know that there is a planned hazard reduction burn taking place on Sunday 26th and Monday 27th April.

Smoke will be present across Sunday and Monday in the area. Crews have been preparing this burn for some time now and will be taking advantage of the favourable conditions over the weekend.

There will be Contraflow traffic for a period on Bannerman Road on Sunday so please factor this in if you are going somewhere, and please slowdown in the burning area.

Key actions include:

Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes

Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns

Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage

Remove washing from clotheslines

Ensure pets have a protected area

Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety

If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice

For health information relating to smoke from bush fires and hazard reduction burning, visit the NSW Health website or Asthma Australia.

Hazard reduction is just one way of preparing for bush fires – it doesn't remove the threat of fire, and it doesn't remove the need for you and your family to be prepared.
