A big thank you to everyone who attended our AGM, stepped into new roles or continues to serve the brigade.

These appointments are part of our ongoing succession plan, ensuring the brigade’s future through fresh ideas, shared experience and strong leadership.

🔥 HAZARD REDUCTION BURN TOWNSVILLE AIRPORT 🔥

Last night our crew conducted the favourite planned burn of the year at Townsville Airport. 👨‍🚒🔥

A big thanks to everyone who turned up, got stuck in and helped make the night a success — especially those working through the late hours! 🌙

🔥 PLANNED HAZARD REDUCTION BURN

Round Mountain Rural Fire Brigade will be undertaking a planned hazard reduction burn near Wirraway Drive vicinity of the Townsville Airport.

📍 LOCATION: Townsville Airport – Wirraway Drive
🗓️ DATE: Friday 25 September 2026
🕚 TIME: From approximately 11:00 pm

🌦️ Weather dependent

If conditions are unsuitable, the burn may be rescheduled to Friday 2 October 2026, subject to suitable weather conditions.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF SMOKE
Smoke may be visible in and around the airport precinct and surrounding areas. Motorists are asked to take care when travelling through the area.

🔥🚒 TRAINING NIGHT! 🚒🔥

We got hands-on with the PyroShot hand-held launcher and launched Dragon Egg ignition spheres, along with some truck familiarisation. 💥🚒

We also had a great fire weather update from the Bushfire Mitigation Team and some excellent insight into the fire season ahead! ☀️🔥

👏 Big shout-out to everyone who has been consistently turning up for our multiple fire calls lately. Your commitment doesn’t go unnoticed!

💛🚒 YELLOW RIBBON DAY! 🚒💛

Wednesday 16th September is Yellow Ribbon Day — a day to recognise and show our support for the incredible volunteers who wear the yellow coat and ride the yellow trucks. 💛

Behind every yellow truck is a team of people who give up their time to train, respond, prepare, educate and support their communities — often when everyone else is heading the other way. 🔥🌿

From early mornings to late nights, weekends, call-outs and countless hours behind the scenes, our volunteers are there when their communities need them.

To our own Round Mountain Rural Fire Brigade members — thank you for everything you do for our community. We’re proud to be part of the yellow family. 🚒💛
