Congratulations to our Senior Boys AFL Team, who progressed to the next round of the AFLQ Schools Cup after winning the Brisbane North Gala Day recently.

This achievement is a testament to the team's dedication and commitment, having trained before school since the middle of Term 1 in preparation for the competition. It was also fantastic to see several students experience AFL for the first time and thoroughly enjoy being part of the team and the day.

We wish our Year 9/10 Boys and Girls AFL teams the best of luck as they represent Kelvin Grove State College at their respective AFLQ Schools Cup Gala Days.

Congratulations to Sean B on his outstanding International boxing debut at the Kokoda Cup 2026 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

After winning the Queensland State Championships earlier this year, Sean earned selection in the Queensland Team to compete internationally at the prestigious Kokoda Cup. At just 15 years of age, Sean was the youngest QLD Champion selected for the team.

Competing in the 52kg division, Sean faced a tough and determined Papua New Guinean opponent (Lazarus) in his first International bout. Demonstrating composure, skill and resilience, Sean secured a convincing victory in the second round via referee stoppage (TKO).

Representing Queensland and Australia on the international stage is a significant achievement and reflects Sean's dedication, discipline and commitment to excellence both inside and outside the ring.

The Kelvin Grove State College community is incredibly proud of Sean's achievement and congratulates him on a memorable international debut. We look forward to following his continued success in the sport - good luck for nationals in July.

Well done, Sean!

Our Year 11 Health students recently visited the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital to take part in the P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) Program - an immersive injury awareness and prevention initiative designed to help young people make informed and safe choices.

Throughout the day, students followed the journey of a trauma patient, hearing firsthand from healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and trauma survivors about the real-life impacts of risk-taking behaviour. The experience provided powerful insight into the importance of decision making, road safety, and looking after themselves and others.

Thank you to the incredible staff and presenters involved in delivering such an impactful and educational program for our students.
