Communities need pools. Swimming teachers need places to teach.
Public pools are where communities learn the swimming and water safety skills that save lives. They are also where qualified swimming teachers build careers, support local families and strengthen Australia’s aquatic workforce.
When communities lose access to pools, lesson opportunities are reduced, teachers lose capacity to work, and fewer people gain the skills they need to be safer in and around the water.
AUSTSWIM supports Royal Life Saving Australia’s long-standing advocacy for a coordinated national approach to aquatic infrastructure and is calling for governments to recognise public pools as essential community infrastructure—because safer communities depend on access to quality swimming and water safety education.
