The Hills RFS again put in a huge effort this year at the Hills “Relay for Life” Charity event yet again coming third in the team event. A big thanks to all that participated and especially to those setting up and packing up on the weekend. We were well supported by the RFS who provided the marquee, the large tent, cool room, BBQ trailer and generators to run power for the cool room and tent power. District also generously provided food and drinks for the team. Firefighter are at a higher risk of cancer due to their exposure to contaminates at fires and must take care to minimise this risk by use of the appropriate PPE and safe hygiene practices. If a firefighter is diagnosed with cancer support is available through the “Firefighters Presumptive Cancer Legislation” for certain cancers if the relevant qualifying length of service exists. The RFS can assist in this process.

🚒 Congratulations to Our New Village Firefighters 👏
On Saturday, Eric, Sam, Nick and Cory successfully completed their Village Firefighter course - an important milestone in their journey with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The Village Firefighter course is the next big step into operational firefighting. It covers the fundamentals of fire behaviour, car fires, hose and pump operations, teamwork, door Entry and hands-on practical skills of fires in urban rather than bush, giving members the knowledge and confidence to safely respond to incidents and support their crew on the fireground.
It’s no small achievement and reflects the time, effort, and commitment each of them has put in throughout the course. And while it’s called Village Firefighter… no, it doesn’t come with costumes or a dance routine from Village People—but it does build a pretty strong team! 😄
A big congratulations to all four—we’re proud to have you as part of the North Rocks crew.
We’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped train, mentor, and support them along the way, as well as those who assisted with practical skills sessions back at the station. Your time and effort make all the difference in shaping the next generation of firefighters.
Well done all 👏

A variety of Emergency Services including VRA, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and the SES were invited to the game by the club to show their support.

Round Corner Brigade were invited to Rouse Hill Brigade to discuss and demonstrate the use of monitors on the fire ground and how these tools allow firefighters to remain at a safe distance when extinguishing certain fires. Thanks so much to Rouse Hill for the invite and presentation. WithRouse Hill Rural Fire Brigade

After completing the Hazard Reduction Round Corner Brigade had to help return the Polaris used for “Intel” on the Sunday and drop off dirty hoses. The large utility and the Pantec (logistics vehicles) were unavailable so a box trailer had to be used to return the bouy walls to the District Office. The utility vehicles were essential in setting up but the box trailer would do for the return trip. A lot of hose had to be washed and hung to dry.
