The Saturday, Round Corner Brigade practiced Structural Fire Fighting and Breathing Apparatus at the station. This included a building search using a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) inside a dark room (picture shows use of the TIC just prior to entering room). The Brigade also cleaned and hung some bouy walls used in previous District training and washed our personnel carrier (ie twin cab Ute) as well as some radio maintenance (software updates and back up dry cell battery packs) and some driver training.

Around 20,000 L of water was needed to control the fire. Whilst the monitor can be operated from within the cabin on this occasion it was controlled manually to provide accurate direction of the spray.

Round Corner has more than 20 HR licensed drivers in the Brigade to operate the 5 tankers we regularly use (2 being HR vehicles).

Yesterday afternoon Round Corner Brigade along with Dural Brigade and the Hills Day Crew in Rouse Hill Pumper attended a “tree down” call on Derriwong Road in Round Corner, Dural. The large tree was blocking the road and had pulled down communications cabling. The combined team needed 2 hours to clear the road finishing after dark. The cabling is being restrung this morning.
