Celebrations will be held throughout Quambatook today as the community marks the official opening of the Sustainable Recreational Water for Quambatook project.

Various events will be held, including:
β˜• A Connect With Council session, occurring at Bev Nalder Memorial Park from 10.30am-12 noon. Come along, grab a coffee and discuss your concerns with Councillors and senior staff.
🏠 Inspections of the Council-owned units at 9-11 Guthrie Street from 11am-12 noon, which is occurring as part of Council’s efforts in seeking expressions of interest regarding the site’s future.
πŸ– A free community barbecue at the Quambatook Weir Pool from 12 noon.
πŸŽ‰ The official opening of the Sustainable Recreational Water for Quambatook project, occurring at the Quambatook Weir Pool from 1pm.

Work will begin next week to install new stormwater mitigation infrastructure that will benefit residents located along Borough Drive, Kerang.

As part of these works:
🚜 New culverts will be installed at the southern end of Borough Drive.
🚜 An open drain on the Kerang Aerodrome side of Airport Road between Borough Drive and the intersection of Kerang-Koondrook Road will be reconstructed.
🚜 A new culvert will be placed under Kerang-Koondrook Road, north of the intersection of Airport Road.

Motorists are advised that the following traffic changes will be in place whilst these works are occurring:
⚠️ Traffic will be reduced to one lane along Airport Road between Borough Drive and Kerang-Koondrook Road, as well as along Kerang-Koondrook Road, from 15-30 June.
🚫 Borough Drive will be closed at the intersection of Airport Road from 16-18 June, with motorists advised to use Kerang-Koondrook Road to access Borough Drive.

Following a request from residents, Garden Park, Cohuna, the Kerang Council Building and the Karlie McDonald Memorial Clock Tower will be illuminated blue tonight, 9 June and tomorrow, 10 June in honour of Neale Daniher.

The lighting of these landmarks coincides with the State Funeral for the former Australian of the Year and motor neurone disease advocate, who died on 25 May aged 65.
