It is great to see so many Gannawarra residents placing the correct items in their yellow household recycling bins.

Recycling your items correctly ensures materials that you planned to recycle do not end up being being diverted to landfill.

Items including soft plastics, shredded paper, tissues and broken glass cannot be recycled, so please place these in your red household waste bin.

Placing your recyclable materials in a plastic bag is also not recommended, as plastic bags cannot be recycled.

For more information regarding what you can and cannot place in your household bins, please visit www.gsc.vic.gov.au/waste

Did you know there is more to being an Outdoor Swimming Pool Lifeguard than just ensuring visitors to our swimming pools are safe?

Our Outdoor Swimming Pool Lifeguards are the first people visitors to the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools see when entering these sites. Our lifeguards also serve people wanting food or drinks from the kiosk, and are also available to answer any questions.

We're looking for people to join our Outdoor Pool Lifeguard team for the 2026/27 season. If you're aged 16 years or older, this is your chance to boost your customer service skills.

The high pathogenicity avian influenza H5N1 strain (H5 bird flu) is present in wild birds in Victoria.

Early reporting provides authorities with the best chance to reduce the impacts of this disease.

If you see sick or dead birds or wildlife:
โŒ Do not touch them.
๐Ÿ“ Record the exact location and take photos if it is safe to do so.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Report what you have seen online at agriculture.vic.gov.au/birdflu or by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

We know people care deeply about wildlife and want to help when they see an animal in distress.

Injured wildlife may still need rescue and care, but if birds or wildlife appear sick, or dead, avoid contact and report it so trained responders can safely assess the situation.
