Flood Advice message issued for South Australian inland rivers

River levels are receding slowly along the Warburton river at Poothapootha and the lower Cooper Creek around Innamincka.

Although floodwaters still remain in the area, the risks posed by flood waters has reduced.

Many roads and access tracks may still be impacted by flooding and flood damage, particularly at river and creek crossings and may continue over the coming weeks.

Check road conditions before travelling.


What you should do:
* If your property has been flooded do not turn your electricity back on until it has been checked by a qualified electrician.
* Be aware that, if you rely on rainwater or similar source, your household water supply may not be safe.
* For SES assistance phone 132 500. If the matter is life-threatening call 000 (triple zero).



Impacts in your area:
* Mud, tree branches and other debris may still be on roads and road surface and verges may have been damaged.
* Do not walk, ride or drive through floodwater.
* Do not let children play in or near floodwater or drains.

⚠️ REMINDER, TEST ALERT COMING TO PORT LINCOLN 📱

AusAlert is being tested in Port Lincoln at 11:00 am, tomorrow, Saturday 20 June 2026.

AusAlert is Australia’s new national emergency alerting capability. It will be used to send urgent official messages to compatible mobile devices during emergencies.

As part of testing, compatible mobile phones, tablets and smart watches in the Port Lincoln area may receive a Priority Alert. Depending on your device and settings, the alert may vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for around 10 seconds.

This is only a test. No action is required.

The Bureau of Meteorology has updated a Final Flood 🌊 Warning ⚠️ for the Onkaparinga River

Issued at 10:01 am ACST on Thursday 18 June 2026

Flood warning number: 2

FLOODING IS NO LONGER EXPECTED AT OAKBANK

Moderate rainfall totals have been recorded over the Onkaparinga River catchment over the last few days, causing small river and creek rises. Flooding is no longer expected along the upper Onkaparinga River at Oakbank.

Flooding is no longer expected along the upper Onkaparinga River above Verdun.
The Onkaparinga River at Oakbank is currently at 0.25 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Onkaparinga River at Oakbank is expected to remain below the minor flood level (1.17 m).

Safety advice
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.

Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.

The Adelaide Football Club and the SA Government is once again honouring South Australian Emergency Services personnel and volunteers with the Emergency Services Match this Saturday.

Earlier this month, Jasmin McLelland, Unit Manager of our SA SES - Dog Operations Unit was able to visit Adelaide Football Club alongside representatives from the SA Ambulance Service, SA Country Fire Service and South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the incredible contributions of our SES volunteers and their Emergency Services colleagues, as we watch the Crows take on the Melbourne Demons on Saturday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled the Severe Weather Warning for the West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula and North West Pastoral districts.

Easing rainfall for parts of the Eyre Peninsula and nearby inland areas.

Weather Situation: A cold front, connected to a low that lies in the Great Australian Bight, is moving across South Australia. Showers and rain continue with this system into the evening, however heavy rainfall is no longer expected.

Severe weather is no longer occurring in South Australia. The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary. Other warnings may be current. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an Initial Minor Flood 🌊 Warning ⚠️ for the Upper Onkaparinga River
Issued at 2:30 pm ACST on Wednesday 17 June 2026
Flood warning number: 1

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT OAKBANK FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING

Moderate rainfall totals have been recorded over the Onkaparinga River catchment over the last few days, causing small river and creek rises.

Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday, which may cause the upper Onkaparinga River at Oakbank to exceed the minor flood level from Wednesday evening.

Note: The minor flood level at Oakbank was lowered from 2.10 m to 1.17 m in December 2025.

Minor flooding is possible along the upper Onkaparinga River above Verdun.

The Onkaparinga River at Oakbank is currently at 0.25 m and steady, below the minor flood level. With forecast rainfall, the Onkaparinga River at Oakbank may exceed the minor flood level (1.17 m) from Wednesday evening. Further rises are possible overnight Wednesday into Thursday with forecast rainfall.
