Kilcoy Cafe Connect commenced as a safe, comfortable, social environment where people can relax, meet other interesting people and have a good yard over some morning tea and a nice cuppa. It was borne out of the desire to provide space for those in the community who felt marginalised, providing a warm place to relax and socialise. Sadly the cafe itself has ceased to operate, although Thellie's Pla

ce continued to operate for drop-in and a free cuppa for quite a while. I had kept this page active in order to promote positive mental health, and keep the option open to return to community service in some capacity. Cafe Connect Counselling has been launched with Spring 2017 and operates on a flexible basis depending on client preference or need. I have a room at the Kilcoy Wesleyan Methodist Church, 30 McCauley Street, but am happy to meet in one of our lovely cafes or Yowie Park. I also offer counselling sessions online by arrangement. Hi everyone who follows this page. Apologies for the long hiatus. Life sometimes gets in the way.

I want to share something exciting with you. Since I was introduced to it about 15 years ago, I have believed in the power of Equine Assisted Therapy but never had the privelege of seeing it up close and personal - until yesterday.

Tanya's operation is still in the development phase, but clearly she is off to a racing start, with several horses ready to meet you. I personally loved the variety of chooks roaming the property.

Tanya is passionate, friendly and qualified to deliver equine assisted work for a variety of issues. Please see her website for further information!

Australia Day can be a moment to pause and appreciate the things that quietly hold our communities together — the shared spirit, the sense of looking out for one another, and the everyday courage it takes to keep showing up, especially when life is tough.

Being “True Blue” in the Australian sense isn’t about grand gestures or loud declarations. It’s about honesty, kindness, and sticking together through thick and thin. It’s the neighbour who checks in, the mate who listens, the family who loves you even when you’re struggling, and the resilience that lives in the quieter corners of our stories.

At True Blue Counselling, that same ethos guides the work: compassion without judgement, a listening ear, and a belief that you don’t have to go it alone. Counselling can be a space to rediscover what’s strong in you, make sense of what hurts, and build towards a future you can feel proud of — in your own time, your own way.

So as Australia Day rolls around, perhaps we celebrate not just the sprawling coastlines and gum-scented breezes, but the human spirit that binds us — the “True Blue” spirit of supporting each other, valuing authenticity, and finding hope even after life’s hardest moments.

Because sometimes the most patriotic thing we can do is simply care for one another — and for ourselves — with sincerity and heart.
