There’s a Cape Jaffa Lighthouse in Kingston. Yes, Kingston.

Once standing out at sea on the Margaret Brock Reef, the lighthouse guided ships along this stretch of coastline for more than a century.

Today, its striking red and white structure stands on Marine Parade in Kingston, where you can get much closer to a piece of maritime history that once stood around eight kilometres offshore.

It’s the kind of story you might miss if you don’t stop and look a little closer.

𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 🚜
Council is seeking community assistance in identifying potential rubble supply locations to utilise for future re-sheeting of rural roads.

Finding suitable material that will have durability for maintaining our significant unsealed road network continues to be a challenge, and additionally, in locations that are in relatively close proximity to areas of work.

Last night, Kingston District Council attended Kingston Community School’s 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 to talk with local students about local government pathways! 🌳🚜💻

Staff discussed the range of career opportunities in local government and shared the varied work carried out in both our Council and across the sector.

Thank you to those in the community who stopped in for a chat, and a big congratulations to KCS on establishing this fantastic community event. 🌟

The 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 (𝗟𝗖𝗪𝗙𝗟) is seeking enthusiastic participants to get involved in 𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 for the upcoming season. 🏉

Why Become an Umpire?
▪ Be part of the game in a new and rewarding way.
▪ Develop leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
▪ Improve your fitness and confidence.
▪ Earn up to $100 per game.
▪ Help support the continued growth and success of the LCWFL.

Foundation Training Sessions - available for anyone interested in learning the basics of umpiring:

There is something for everyone - food, drinks, music and lots of fun for the kids! 🎼

This year, the Kingston SE Lions Club are kindly donating 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝘀, as well as prizes for the best floats. Register before the Parade night to ensure you are eligible. 🎉🌟
