Works are continuing to progress well on the Waikerie Riverfront following some unexpected delays in the project.
Due to changes to the construction schedule, construction at Waikerie and Paisley can no longer be completed concurrently as originally planned. Instead, the Waikerie site will be completed first before contractors move to Paisley, with all works expected to be finished by the end of September.
While the Paisley riverfront remains temporarily closed to the community, Waikerie residents are reminded that there is still a significant amount of recreational riverfront space to enjoy along Edgar Bartlett Drive beyond the houseboat moorings.
Contractors are currently installing large geotextile sand containers along the riverbank which form part of the long-term stabilisation works. The sand containers will be completely covered with compacted clay, and the final surface will be finished with geotextile turf reinforcement mesh, topsoil, and instant lawn once the project is complete.
