**Breaking News: Income Support Payments, job search, and mutual obligations to be increased**
Worklinks has received notice regarding the increase to Jobseeker payment as well as changes to mutual obligations. Be assured if anything is of concern to you please contact us and we will be monitoring and updating our services in line with these changes.
"In what was an intense Press Conference today Prime Minister Morrison, Minister Cash, and Minister Ruston explained changes to “the single largest increase” in base payment support to Job Seekers for 30 years.
Below is a snapshot of the increase:
1. The payment rate increase represents an increase from 37.5% to 41.2% of the National Minimum Wage – a rate not experienced since the Howard Government
2. Non-declarable income increases to $150 per fortnight
3. The Government's additional payments (rental support etc.) will not change
4. The increase is $50 per fortnight, a little over $4 per day"
