Join us for our last Community Dinner for June before our short break 💛

Come in out of the cold, enjoy a warm meal, meet new people and share some community connection.

At On the Way Moreton Bay Inc. we believe everyone deserves kindness, dignity and a place to belong ❤️

Everyone is welcome

Whether you are experiencing homelessness, housed but struggling, feeling lonely, living with mental health challenges, living with a disability, on the NDIS, impacted by addiction, a single person, a family, or simply wanting connection, there is a seat at our table 💛

We are a safe, respectful and welcoming space for everyone.

We kindly ask that all guests treat each other and our amazing volunteers with kindness and respect so everyone can enjoy the evening ❤️

Went to a great volunteer day today put on by the Community Development Team at City of Moreton Bay. It was a fantastic opportunity for community networking, learning and connecting with other amazing community organisations who are working hard in our community.

A very proud moment today watching Latisha get up and share her volunteer journey. She spoke so confidently and from the heart. The caring young lady she has become and the kindness and support she shows towards people in our community does not go unnoticed ❤️

One thing she shared really stood out she believes more young people should be encouraged to volunteer because it opens your eyes to the challenges and hardships others face. It helps build compassion, understanding and a stronger sense of community.

So proud of her and the difference she is making. ❤️

Winter Clothing Donations Needed ❤️

With the colder weather here, we are looking for donations of men’s and women’s warm clothing for our clothes stand at our community dinners.

Items we are currently needing:
• Jackets
• Warm jumpers
• Track pants
• Jeans
• Warm everyday clothing

We are also looking for a small amount of children’s winter clothing, specifically:
• Jumpers
• Jackets
• Track pants
• Sizes 5 and up only please

At this stage we are not accepting baby items due to limited storage.

We kindly ask that all donations are washed, clean and in good condition with no holes, rips or stains, as we want everyone who visits our dinners to feel valued and respected when choosing clothing.

Due to limited storage, please do not drop items directly to the hall. All donations will need to be organised with us first and arranged for drop-off at one of our community dinners.

Your kindness helps provide warmth, dignity and support to people in our community who may be experiencing hardship, homelessness, or simply going through a difficult time.

Another beautiful night at our Community Dinner ❤️

It was another busy night tonight at On the Way Moreton Bay Inc. and it was so great to see some new faces joining us again.

Tonight our guests enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal:

🍲 Minestrone Soup
🍽️ Chicken Teriyaki Medallions with potato and sweet potato veggie bake
🍑 Pavlova with passionfruit, peaches and whipped cream

We also had our raffles for both the adults and kids and it was beautiful seeing all the kids walk away with a prize and a smile.

I want to say a huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who keep showing up and standing beside me while we support our community. I truly could not do this without you all. Your kindness, your time and your willingness to help others means more than you know.

A special thank you also to the incredible volunteers working behind the scenes helping get our charity organised, compliant and running smoothly. There is so much that happens away from the dinners and I am so grateful for every single person who gives their time and support.

A huge thank you to our amazing kitchen team. Your efforts definitely do not go unnoticed. I may turn up with all the ingredients I have managed to source, but you are the ones who bring it all together and turn it into something special for our community to enjoy.

The time, care and love you put into preparing these meals shows on every plate that goes out. I appreciate you all so much ❤️

A big thank you to Stephanie Hanson who is always thinking of us and purchasing items to help support what we do.

Thank you to one of our lovely guests who kindly brought in disposable cutlery for us tonight. It means so much seeing the community supporting each other.

Thank you Lauren and Tegan for bringing in beautiful clothing donations for our clothing table and helping others keep warm.

And thank you Rheanna for donating kitchen items including mixers, scales, bowls and measuring jugs to help us continue providing meals for our community.

Every donation, every helping hand and every act of kindness makes a difference.

We are also reaching out to anyone in our community who would love to support our dinners by donating desserts, cupcakes, slices or sweet treats for our guests to enjoy.

We do run on a limited budget and rely on the kindness and generosity of our community to continue providing these meals and a welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

My new motto ❤️

If you haven’t got anything good to say, don’t say it at all.

The world already has enough judgement and negativity. A little more kindness, understanding and compassion can go a long way.

That doesn’t mean we ignore problems or avoid honest conversations. It means we choose our words carefully and remember there is always a person behind every situation.

Kindness costs nothing, but it can mean everything to someone who is struggling. ❤️

Come along, stay warm, share a meal, enjoy a cuppa, hot chocolate, a cold cordial and a hot 3 course dinner with some friendly faces 🫶

If you’re struggling with homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, living with a disability, facing financial hardship, a single parent or family doing it tough, feeling lonely or simply wanting some community connection you are welcome here ❤️

At On the Way Moreton Bay Inc. we provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment where everyone is treated with kindness, dignity and respect.

Please don’t ever feel embarrassed or worry that you won’t fit in coming along to our dinners. Our amazing volunteers are here to greet you with open arms, a friendly smile and help make sure everyone has a lovely evening ❤️

Everyone has a story, and everyone deserves a place where they feel they belong.

Bringing our community together, one meal at a time.

Whether you are housed or unhoused, we know many people in our community are facing challenges right now. No one should have to feel alone. Sometimes a warm meal, a cuppa and a friendly conversation can make a difference.

Drop in, say hello, enjoy a hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cold cordial and connect with others in your community.

Our dinners are for individuals and families who may be:

• feeling lonely or isolated
• experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity
• facing financial pressures
• navigating mental health challenges
• impacted by addiction or recovery
• going through difficult times
• simply wanting connection and friendship

Everyone has a story. Everyone deserves kindness, respect and a place where they belong.

At On the Way Moreton Bay Inc. we welcome people from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds. We do not judge or discriminate. Everyone will be treated with dignity and respect.

Our amazing volunteers provide a welcoming space, a friendly smile and a listening ear. They give their time because they believe in kindness, connection and supporting our community. ❤️

Where needed, we can help connect community members with information and referral pathways to other support services.

❤️ VOLUNTEERS WANTED – COMMUNITY DINNERS ❤️

On the Way Moreton Bay Inc. is looking for volunteers who would like to help out at our Tuesday night Community Connection Dinners held at John Naumann Hall, Deception Bay.

We currently have volunteer opportunities available for:

• Kitchen volunteers who enjoy cooking and helping prepare meals
• Plating meals
• Serving meals
• Collecting dishes
• Pack up and clean up at the end of the night
• Community connection – welcoming guests, having a chat and helping create a friendly, supportive space

Available shifts include:

⏰ 5:00pm – 8:00pm
⏰ 5:00pm – 7:00pm
⏰ 6:00pm – 8:00pm

We understand everyone has different availability and will work with you where possible, depending on the shifts we have available.

You don’t need to commit every week. Whether you can help regularly or just when you are available, every bit of help makes a difference.

Our dinners are about more than just food. They are about kindness, connection and making sure people in our community feel welcomed, valued and supported.

Recovery is about so much more than just stopping the substance.

The journey doesn’t end when the substance is gone. Sometimes the hardest part is learning a new way to think, cope and respond to life’s challenges.

Old thoughts can still appear, old patterns can still feel familiar, and past ways of coping can try to pull you back. But every time you pause, reach out, make a different choice or take one small step forward, you are creating change.

Recovery takes patience, support and kindness towards yourself. It’s about rebuilding, reconnecting and learning that you are more than your past.

Healing is possible.
