This has to be the most diverse day trip you can do from Sydney. Considering the coastal views and southern highlands regions some of the scenery is simply breathtaking. Right now I'm somewhere between Bald Hill and Kiama Lighthouse, and days like this are exactly why I do this.

That paraglider launched about 30 seconds after I pulled over. The view south along the Illawarra escarpment is something photos barely do justice — but I tried anyway.

Next stop, Berry then Kangaroo Valley. If you've never driven that descent into the valley, it genuinely takes your breath away.

Check out this little fella we found today. Not being a snake expert I assumed it was an Eastern Brown Snake but this was was a juvenile as he was much smaller than I’ve seen before. Found him/her on the walk to sublime point.

Heading north out of Sydney our stop included a visit to saddles for a quick coffee and to visit the mackaws. They release these birds in the morning but we had to continue to The Hunter Vally for wine tasting so we missed it.
