The butter factory was built in 1924 and the cheese factory in 1942, both ceased operating in 1964. They now each have their own title, the butter factory site area is 6160 square metres and the cheese factory is 3457 square metres. The butter factory has undergone substantial renovation to provide a large 3 bedroom one and a half bathroom dwelling in the upper floor area. A further part of the up

per floor area and all of the lower floor area await further development. The properties are in the middle of the small township and are bounded by the Foster Creek. On the south side of the road is the former general store buildings that are now substantially occupied by the Kongwak Market and associated traders. The township is almost equidistantly located from the larger townships of Korumburra, Wonthaggi and Inverloch, only 10 minutes’ drive from each and is within the boundaries of the South Gippsland Shire.
