After over 63 years of dedication to not only the local brigades, but the surrounding communities, there’s truly no-one more deserving.

A huge congratulations to Col Stockdale for receiving the Country Fire Authority’s ‘Outstanding Service Medal’.

We extend our deepest gratitude to you.
Your advice, leadership and extensive on-the-job experience is invaluable to our brigade. No amount of training or book work can measure up to your real world knowledge.

The sheer fact that we had to lure Stocky to his own award ceremony, under false pretences, just goes to show the humility of this man.
He doesn’t do it for the gratitude. He doesn’t do it for the awards.
Everything he does is for the betterment of his brigade and community.

We also wish to recognise the unwavering support his family, especially his wife, have provided. This level of dedication would not be possible without you.

Thank you
Truly Thank you

🚨 AUSALERT REMINDER 🚨

At 2pm AEST today (July 27th 2026) AUSALERT will be conducting a test of the National Emergency Alert system.
Your phone will emit a siren like sound for approximately 10 seconds.
If you or a loved one are in a situation where your safety could be endangered by the discovery of your/their phone, please turn your phone OFF.
Silencing your phone will have no impact on the notification. Leave the phone off for at least 1 hour after the scheduled test time.

All road rules and regulations still apply during this time. Please do not use your phone while driving. Pull over if necessary when and where it is safe to do so.

As this is just a test, you don't need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

The AusAlert (Emergency Alert System) will be being tested in Victoria on Monday 27th July 2026 at 2pm AEST. (VIC)

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

On Monday 27 July, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.
The test times across Australian time zones are:
* 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
* 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
* 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don't need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

Monday 22nd, Koonwarra Brigade ventured out to Ruby Station for a training night with the ‘Mobile Car Prop’.

It was the perfect opportunity for members to maintain their Breathing Apparatus qualifications and for all members to gain experience under operational conditions.

Shout out to Matt for attending the facilitator training and making the night possible.
