POWER OUTAGE - UPDATE

Energex are still investigating the power outage. At this stage the cause of the power outage and the expected timeframe for restoration remain unknown, the school remains without power, internet, or phone services. At this stage, the school remains open and staff are continuing to operate within the limitations these disruptions present to ensure students are supervised and supported throughout the day.

However, the outage is impacting our ability to deliver normal programs and follow usual school routines. As a result, some planned learning activities and communication processes are unable to operate as normal.

Families who feel it is in the best interests of their child to be collected from school are welcome to do so. We will continue to provide updates as further information becomes available and appreciate your understanding and support during this disruption.

🎉 Meet Our New Principal! 🎉

We are excited to officially welcome Sarah Brown to the Kuraby Special School community.

Sarah will be joining us as Principal from Monday and is looking forward to meeting all of our wonderful students, families and staff. Before she starts, Sarah wanted to introduce herself and share a special message with our school community.

📚✨ Last Wednesday our students took part in National Simultaneous Storytime 2026, joining millions of participants across Australia to read the same Australian picture book at exactly the same time.

This year’s featured story, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, follows Luna Roo, a spirited young kangaroo who overcomes nerves and self-doubt to captain her outback football team to victory.

Our students really enjoyed the story and engaged thoughtfully in the activities and discussions that followed.

📚 ⚽✨ This Wednesday 27th May at 12:00pm, we will celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime with this year’s wonderful story - Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller! 🦘💛

Luna Roo loves soccer, teamwork and believing in yourself - making this the perfect story to share together as we celebrate the joy of reading across Australia.

Kuraby students will be viewing a quick introduction video before engaging in a shared reading experience of the book with their peers in class! 📖🌟

💛 Under 8s Day! 💛

We had a wonderful day o. Wednesday celebrating Under 8s Day! So many smiles, laughter and hands-on fun as our students explored, created, played and learned together. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. Seeing the excitement and joy on the children’s faces was the best part of all!
