Please note we’ll be closing early at 3PM today due to a private function.

If you’re planning to visit, make sure you flutter in before then to enjoy the aviary, butterfly museum and tropical butterfly magic. 🌿

Meet the Blue Banded Eggfly — a butterfly that proves not everything is as it first appears.

The males stand out with striking blue bands across their wings, while the females are mostly brown, helping them blend quietly into the surrounding foliage.

This species is found along the Queensland coastline and down into New South Wales, and like many butterflies, their time in the spotlight is short — living around 12 weeks as adults.

Before they take flight, their caterpillars look completely different again… dark brown and covered in tiny spikes.

Keep an eye out in the aviary — you might spot both sides of this fascinating transformation.
