🌿 Keeper Feature 🌿

This week we’re celebrating Lucy 🐨

It’s also her last day with us tomorrow, so we’re definitely feeling very sad to see her go. She has been such an amazing part of our wildlife team and is genuinely one of the reasons our keepers and the work they do have been so successful.

Originally from the UK, she grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, with a particular passion for birds and parrots. Keeping her own birds eventually led her to an opportunity in falconry, where she worked with Birds of Prey in both abatement work and public education.
From there, she was lucky enough to move into the zookeeping industry, working with a wide range of species, from primates to porcupines.

Almost two years ago, she made the move to Australia and has been honoured to have the opportunity to work with and expand her knowledge of Australian native wildlife here at Rainforestation. One of the things she loves most about the role is knowing that the education we provide can have a direct impact on the wildlife our guests might find in their own backyards.

Her favourite animal at the park is Jimmy, our Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo. He’s a real character and such a fun animal to work with, especially when it comes to his target training. Jubilee also holds a very special place in her heart, as she was the first successful koala breeding she had a hand in facilitating.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything she has brought to our team and while we’re so sad to say goodbye, we’re also so proud of everything she has achieved during her time with us. 💚

Thank you for everything Lucy, you’ll definitely be missed. You’ll always be apart of the Rainforestation family 💚🐨🦜

It’s World Lizard Day! 🦎

Today we celebrate one of the most diverse group of reptiles and the amazing adaptations that help them thrive. Here at Rainforestation, we are proud to house a range of different lizards, from tiny skinks to mighty monitors.

Lizards play a critical role in our ecosystem. Many species help control insect populations, while others contribute to seed dispersal and provide food for other wildlife. Protecting natural habitats, ensuring our cats stay safely indoors and supporting conservation efforts are all ways we can help safeguard their future. 🦎🌱

We recently celebrated an incredible milestone - 50 years of Rainforestation! 🌿🐨

Joined by 180 guests, we marked the occasion with a heartfelt Acknowledgement of Country, reflecting on our journey and the rich culture of the land we call home.

The celebration also included the unveiling of our beautiful new scenic swing seat, overlooking the lush grounds that have welcomed visitors for five decades.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story over the past 50 years. Here’s to preserving nature, celebrating culture and creating unforgettable memories for many more years to come. ✨

A special visit to Rainforestation 🐨🎬

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming American actor Scott Porter and his wonderful family for an afternoon of adventure here at Rainforestation in Tropical North Queensland.

A highlight of Scott’s visit was meeting Juliet, our adorable wombat, who quickly became his favourite animal encounter 🦘🤎

Thank you for visiting Rainforestation - we loved having you and your family with us! 🥰
