A huge congratulations to Peter, the wonderful Heart Foundation Walk Leader for the Wellard walking group Chatter and Stride, who has taken out the Heart Foundation’s national ‘Wear Your Words’ competition!

Peter’s winning entry, “Small Steps, Strong Heart”, celebrates how simple, everyday actions and movement can make a positive difference to our heart health over time.

What a fantastic message, and one that perfectly captures what our walking groups are all about. Small steps can lead to big benefits.

If you would like to get moving, meet some friendly faces and give one of Kwinana’s walking group a try, come along and join us. Everyone is welcome!

7 September is National Threatened Species Day 🌏

National Threatened Species Day is a chance to learn more about Australia’s threatened native species and the work being done to help protect them.
Here in Kwinana, one of our most recognisable threatened species is the endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo. Protecting and enhancing habitat, food and water sources can all help support these incredible birds.

As part of the Keep Carnabys Flying project, new bird watering stations have been installed across Kwinana, including the latest in Wandi. 🌳🐦
It’s another way we’re working with our community and partners to support local biodiversity as we Celebrate Biodiversity this Spring.

🌱 "Shopping with local businesses not only benefits our local economy and Kwinana’s great community of small businesses, but also helps build a rapport with another local. You're not just another number," says Jakki from Serene Earth Sustainability .

"Having that local community insight and knowledge can also be of benefit. For example, a gardener like me is familiar with the local conditions and what will grow well and what won’t in Kwinana."
