Spring has sprung! 🌸

Now is the perfect time to prepare for storms ahead of the Higher Risk Weather Season which starts on 5 October this year.

Get ahead of the season by:
🧹 Cleaning your gutters, downpipes and drains.
✂️ Trimming back trees and branches around your property.
🎒 Getting your emergency kit ready.
🪢 Having materials handy to tie down loose outdoor items if it gets windy.
📱 Updating your VicEmergency app to the latest version and setting up a watch zone.

A historic day for Kyabram saw the VICSES unit gain crucial road crash rescue capabilities while celebrating two of its most dedicated leaders.

A major milestone for our SES Kyabram Unit volunteers who have officially been accredited as VICSES’ 105th Principal Road Crash Rescue unit, strengthening specialist rescue capability across the region, also within the Kyabram community and surrounding areas. The Certificate of accreditation was presented by Alistair Drayton SES Chief Operations Officer and the Emergency Management Commissioner Tim Wiebusch to the Kyabram Unit Controller Paul Octigan ESM. Which will be proudly displayed within the Unit.
Two more surprise Awards were also presented on the night.
Unit Life Membership Awards.
These awards are given to a member whom has given active & significant services for filling certain criteria in recognition for service and support to the Unit. Members must service a minimum of 20 years dedicated service to a VICSES Unit.
These Awards were presented to Controller Paul Octigan ESM - 37 years Service & Deputy Controller Gail Octigan 23 years Service.
A great honour to receive these prestigious Awards. The Kyabram Unit now has 3 Unit Life Members which includes Bill Murray Deputy Controller Ops whom received his award December’25.
It was an extremely successful night and Thank you to all whom attended and for all your support and well wishes.

A strong cold front is expected to move across Victoria this weekend, with the worst conditions forecast from Sunday into Monday, bringing widespread rain, strong winds and the potential for localised flooding.

VICSES is urging Victorians to prepare now by:

• Securing loose outdoor items.
• Clearing gutters and drains.
• Staying up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings through the VicEmergency app.
• Avoiding unnecessary travel during severe weather where possible.

Those travelling to the alpine region should remain vigilant as conditions can change. Download the VicEmergency app and set up a Watch Zone for your destination to receive the latest info.

It's National Missing Persons Week - a time to raise awareness of the issues surrounding missing persons, as well as attempts to reduce the number and the impact of missing persons in Australia.

VICSES volunteers play a crucial role in supporting Victoria Police in search operations across the state. They are highly trained to navigate specialised terrain in remote and harsh environments.
