Trade & Tech Event

A unique opportunity for students to explore career pathways through a dedicated, hands-on career expo designed for female and gender-diverse students in Years 7–12. The event showcased rewarding, well-paid careers across the trades and technology industries.

We were fortunate to take 24 students from Kyneton High School to attend this exciting event at no cost to families. Students participated in a range of interactive activities, allowing them to gain firsthand experience and insight into potential future careers.

To finish off their 'Being an Effective Team Member' unit, the YR12 VCE-VM students had an excursion to The Great Escape Bendigo. The YR12s were split into two teams, with one team attempting the 'Pirate Mediterranean' Room and the other in the scary 'The Orphanage' room.
Both teams escaped their rooms in record times for the month of May!! All students had an amazing time. Big thank you to Kirsty for helping to supervise this excursion!

At the start of this term, we had First Nation musician Scott Darlow facilitate 4 sessions with our YR10 Applied Learning class, YR11 & 12 VCE-VM students and our Koorie Crew.
Scott spoke about First Nation's perspectives by educating students on the various Indigenous countries of Australia, telling stories through his yiḏaki and challenging students to use the original names for Australian landmarks. Scott did this with humour and story telling, allowing students to be curious and ask questions.
Thank you for spending time with KHS Scott!

The YR7/8 Girls Soccer Team were incredible during yesterday's interschool tournament.

They won three games and drew one, winning the overall tournament by one goal! They were competitive. supported each other, demonstrated incredible teamwork and showed amazing sportsmanship to the other teams. We were especially proud of the girls for shrinking their on field team to compete with a school who only had 8 players!

Big thank you to Madi and Caitlin for coaching the girls. Abi and Elena for helping out as Line People. And of course the generous Ms Sharpe for treating all the girls to a Maccas soft-serve on the way home!

YR10 Applied Learning

Over the past few days, these lads have been working hard in the gardens beside our school hall. These students are in the implementation phase of a project in their LifeSkills subject, where they have recognised that these garden beds have been looking a bit dishevelled recently. The students have been creating a plan surrounding this project and have imagined themselves as a landscaping company with KHS as their client.

Pictured are some of 10 Applied being proud of themselves after ripping up a huge agapanthus! They broke a shovel and garden fork in the process!

Year 10 Building and Construction – Park Bench Project

Our Year 10 Building and Construction students have successfully completed their park bench project as part of their carpentry unit. The project allowed students to demonstrate their practical skills, teamwork, and understanding of construction techniques by building full-sized outdoor benches for the school grounds.

Each bench was built from cypress timber, with students taking pride in producing a quality finished product for the school community to enjoy. Students also selected suitable locations around the school for the installation of their benches, helping improve outdoor spaces for everyone.

Mr Dan and Mr Swan are very proud of the students’ efforts and craftsmanship throughout the project.
