🚒 MELBOURNE FIREFIGHTER STAIR CLIMB 2026 🚒 30 days to go!! 🏃‍♂️

The challenge is on — and some of our Lake Boga Fire Brigade members are stepping up! 💪🔥

On Saturday 12 September, our members will take on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb, tackling 28 floors of the Crown Metropol while wearing approximately 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus! 😮‍💨🚒

But every step is for a very important cause ❤️ to raise funds and awareness for Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Lifeline and Triple Zero (000).

And the training is already well underway…

🏋️ Brenton — hitting the gym and getting plenty of walking kilometres into the legs.

💪 Darren — working hard on his step fitness. Up, down, repeat!

🏃 Pat — putting the local footy grandstand to good use and running those stairs!

There may not be 28 floors at Lake Boga to practise on, but they’re certainly finding ways to get those legs ready! 😂

We’re incredibly proud to have Lake Boga members taking on this challenge and representing our brigade while supporting three very worthy causes 👨‍🚒👨‍🚒👨‍🚒

A little Christmas magic in the middle of winter! 🎅🚒🎄

We weren’t expecting this jolly fellow for a few months yet but our brigade was delighted to help Santa make a special appearance at the Lake Boga Football Netball Club Christmas in July celebration. Smiling faces, excited children (and adults!) made for a lovely visit.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest
technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile
devices.
It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we
need to test the system across Australia.

On Monday 27 July, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones,
tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The test times across Australian time zones are:
• 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
• 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
• 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that
lasts about 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or
a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or
switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in
your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual
disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and
others safe.

It is with great sadness that the Lake Boga Fire Brigade acknowledges the passing of our friend and former Captain, Brian “Truck” Carmichael.

Brian joined the Lake Boga Fire Brigade in 1964 and dedicated more than 60 years of service to the CFA and our local community. In 1969, he was elected Captain, a position he proudly held until 1982. He later returned to brigade leadership, serving as 2nd Lieutenant from 2000 to 2002.

Affectionately known to all as “Truck”, Brian was a highly respected and valued member of our brigade family. His outstanding commitment to volunteer service was recognised through the awarding of the National Medal, a Gold Star, the CFA 60 Year Service Medal, and Life Membership of the Lake Boga Fire Brigade.

Brian’s contribution to our brigade spans generations. Through his leadership, dedication, and willingness to serve others, he helped shape the Lake Boga Fire Brigade into the organisation it is today. His legacy will continue to be remembered by all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

On behalf of all current and former members of the Lake Boga Fire Brigade, we extend our sincere condolences to Brian’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Truck. Thank you for your 60 years of service, friendship, leadership, and commitment to the Lake Boga community. You will never be forgotten.
