Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing women in Conjola RFS!!
Some fun Mum facts:
Our latest recruit - a Mum of two
All our active female firefighters are Mums - what great role models for their children!!
Our more mature Mums bring their years of culinary skills to feed the crew and do all sorts of behind the scenes “mothering”.
If you are interested in becoming our next female firefighter contact us here and we will get in touch.

The perfect conditions this week have allowed for a hazard reduction to go ahead at St George’s Basin.
An enormous amount of preparation, resources and commitment from local crews goes into each Hazard Reduction. Hats off to our crew who went out all day today.
Jurgen, our trusty driver, Ken as our reliable crew leader and Mandy, Tim, William and Neville as the all important members of the crew.
It’s a long hot and physically active day - thanks everyone.

⏰ Change your clock. Check your smoke alarm.

As daylight saving time comes to an end this weekend, we’re reminding all residents across the South Eastern Area to take a few moments to check their smoke alarms.

Working smoke alarms save lives.

With cooler months approaching, many households will begin using heaters, electric blankets and fireplaces. A functioning smoke alarm provides critical early warning, giving you and your family time to respond safely.

✔ Test your smoke alarms
✔ Replace batteries if required
✔ Ensure alarms are clean and free from dust
✔ Check you have alarms installed in key areas of your home.

This simple habit, when the clocks change, check your smoke alarms, can make all the difference.

PILE BURNS AT YOUR HOME
Yesterday marked the end of the current fire season where you are required to get a fire permit to burn off on your property.
What you MUST understand is that, from now until September, you still need to notify NSW RFS 24 hours prior to burning AND you need to notify your neighbours 24 hours ahead of time.
If you don’t comply you are still subject to heavy fines.
Use the bar code on this card to link to the form you complete in order to notify.
We have these cards as Fridge magnets. If you would like one - get in touch with us.

Our local legends, Ian and Colleen (far right and far left), held their annual snail race today. As usual they have gifted the proceeds to Conjola RFS.
We are very grateful to Ian and Colleen and all the community who give so generously.

LARGER FIRE TRUCK NOW IN CONJOLA
This week, Conjola Rural Fire Brigade received a larger replacement fire truck. Our current category 2 fire truck, which has served our community since 2005, has been replaced with a category 1 fire truck. It is a few years older but it does have better pumping capacity and carries 3500 litres compared to 2000 litres on the previous category 2. This fire truck will hopefully only be with us for a short time until we receive a much more modern truck.

Some of our firefighters are undertaking additional training in preparation for breathing apparatus which will be fitted to this truck. This will give us greater capability at structure fires, car fires and incidents that require respiratory protection for our firefighters. Most importantly, it will increase our capacity to protect you and your homes.

You should be incredibly proud of the effort of our volunteers in spending countless hours of their personal time to gain additional qualifications to better enable them to keep you all safe. A First Aid course today brought us all together to refresh our skills in CPR, using the AED and much more.

If you see us responding to the many and varied incidents that we attend, or if we are training, give us a wave. We always appreciate acknowledgement from our community.

If you are interested in volunteering with Conjola Rural Fire Brigade please send us a message and come and have a chat as we are always looking for new members.
