🎉 ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER RECORD AMOUNT 🎉

The final numbers are in and we're thrilled to announce that the Lakes Entrance community have raised a grand total of $33,133.00 for this year's RCH Good Friday Appeal! 🏥💚💜

A massive shout-out to our amazing team of volunteers for once again giving up their day to make the day happen.

But the real credit should go to YOU, the community. Whether you dropped a coin or note in the tin, scanned a QR code, donated online or bought raffle tickets at a number of venues across the day.

We set a new record today, and it's all thanks to you!

We would also like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the number of business and venues who support us on the day. Your unwavering support year after year does not go unnoticed.

On the 17th anniversary of the February 2009 bushfires, we remember the countless people across our communities who were affected, and those who continue to feel the impacts to this day.

We honour the 173 people who lost their lives, the 400+ people who were injured and the thousands of emergency service personnel who responded throughout the course of the fires.

Together, we remember 🎗️

FIRE CALL ON REMOTE NORTH ARM BEACH 🔥

Early this morning at about 7am your local volunteer fire brigade members responded to what was initially called in as an abandoned campfire. Located a short walk down from the end of Capes Road on some lake frontage.

When fire crews located the fire they soon discovered how lucky we are that the weather wasn’t any worse.

It would appear that a boat has presumably made landfall and dumped a large pile of rubbish, including fibreglass, aresol cans, foam, timber and even a large truck battery and then set alight some time in the early hours of this morning!

The fire as a result has spread along the coastal foreshore to be about 25m in length. Thankfully the scrub in this section was thin enough to not support fire spread any further than it did. If it were thicker and warmer weather this could’ve been a completely different story!

This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and consequences could be dire as a result. Particularly with the last 2 days being declared Total Fire Bans in our district and warm weather forecast in the coming days.

The brigade urge members of the public to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000 if you have any information in relation to this fire.
