Lalor Secondary College is a co-educational school that has, since 1963, provided the communities of Lalor and nearby Epping and Thomastown with educational experiences that prepare students for their chosen pathways, be it tertiary study, trade or work. Our school's mission is to provide programs that allow opportunities for our students to improve their capacity to be and become responsible and socially aware members of the community as well as provide extensive possibilities for their futures. The school's core values of Pride, Achievement, Caring, Cooperation and Honesty are embedded within our welfare and teaching practice. The College provides a caring and supportive learning environment with a curriculum and student well-being program that prepares students for life in a global world of the 21st century. We have approximately 45 nationalities amongst our students, producing a culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners.

As a reminder, Lalor Secondary's annual Spring Music Concert will take place on Tuesday 20th October at 6pm in the Hall. Save the date!

As usual, students from our Instrumental Music Program will be featured in our various ensembles, alongside final performances from our Year 12 students.

Gold coin donation at entry, with drinks and snacks available for purchase.

Get ready to show your team pride! 💙❤️💛💚

Thursday 17 September is Footy Colours Day and an out-of-uniform day. Students are encouraged to wear the colours of their preferred footy team and get behind their favourite club! 🏉

Students who choose to participate are asked to bring in a gold coin donation. This will be our final Fundraising Day for Term 3, with all funds raised donated to Kids Helpline.

Year 12 VM – PDS Students- Making a Difference in Our Community!

Our Year 12 VM students have been busy getting involved, giving back and making a difference through a range of meaningful Community Projects!

Breakfast Club – supporting our school community and helping address food insecurity.

Lalor Neighbourhood House – Food Relief – volunteering their time to support local families experiencing food insecurity.

Off Your Back – Coat Drive – collecting warm clothing to support people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.

SCLMS Interior Car Cleaning – working together to raise funds for Lifeline Australia, supporting the important work of promoting mental health and wellbeing.

Through these experiences, our students have explored real-world issues including food insecurity, homelessness, mental health and wellbeing, while developing empathy, teamwork, communication, leadership and a strong sense of community responsibility.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students have stepped up, worked together and used their time and skills to support others.

Musicland Performance!

Our Year 10 Rock Band 'Breaking the 'Lor' took to the stage at Musicland over the weekend and entertained the crowds at Coda '26 with a phenomenal 6 song set that headlined the event. A big congratulations to the students involved and thank you to their parents for bringing them along on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Finally a huge thank you to Dave Sutton from Hume Central Secondary College who organised the event and did a fabulous job of making everyone feel like a rockstar!

Book Week Dress Up Day THURSDAY AUGUST 27!

Just a reminder that as a part of the Book Week festitivites, we'll be holding the Book Week Dress Up Day & Competition on Thursday, August 27! Come to school dressed as your favourite character, and enter into the Book Week Dress Up Competition where you can show of your costume and win some great prizes!

If you're interested in participating in the Dress Up Day competition, please come speak to Mr. George in the library so we can make a record of participation. We hope to see your amazing costumes on the 27th of August!

Book Week is coming!

One of the central events for the library, Book Week is a celebration of reading, learning, and the pursuit of imagination through books, best described in this year's theme: Symphony of Stories.

This year, Book Week shall be celebrated at Lalor Secondary College between August 24th and August 28th , with activities each day in and around the Library for students to engage in. This includes our incredibly popular, fantastically exciting Dress Up Day and Competition!

Read below for a quick overview of events being hosted by the library throughout the week.

Monday: Quiz! Form a group or go it alone to win glory (and chocolates!) in a wide-ranging quiz that covers pretty much every topic you can think of!

Tuesday: Blackout Poetry! Take a stab at creating poetry, prose, or just something simply funny in blackout poetry!

Wednesday: Bookmark Making! Come on down and engage in some calming arts and crafts, designing your very own bookmark!

Thursday: Book Week Dress-Up Day and Competition! The defining event of Book Week, come to school dressed as your favourite character, and compete in the Costume Competition for some fantastic prizes, or just come by to see the incredible costumes on show!

Friday: Movie in the Library! We'll cap off the week in a more relaxing, low-key fashion, throwing on a movie that encapsulates the ideas and theming of this year's Book Week celebration.

So come on down to the library, have some fun, relax a little... and maybe borrow a few books along the way, as we're in the final month of the Premier's Reading Challenge too, so why not check off two tasks at once? Either way, we hope to see you there!

❄️Spread the Warmth: Donate to the 'Off Your Back' Coat Drive❄️

Donate Your Winter Coats by August 17th!

The Year 12 VM–PDS students are running a coat drive to support Off Your Back. For over 20 years, Off Your Back has been providing warm coats to people in need, collecting and redistributing over 300,000 coats at no cost.

⚠️WE NEED YOUR HELP!⚠️

Donate: Drop off your pre-loved or new winter coats in *Room 507* by August 17th.

Spread the Word: Share this message with others to help us collect as many coats as possible.

Let’s make this winter a little warmer for those who need it most!

Our Year 12 AME class had the opportunity to explore the curatorial considerations and conservation practices behind the NGV's Future Country exhibition. It was a fantastic learning experience and a wonderful day exploring the galleries collection.

As part of the Arts department's finale to their wonderfully hosted Arts Week, they threw a fantastic morning tea for the staff at Lalor Secondary College! Congratulations to the Arts faculty for another fantastic Arts Week!
