The community in Lancefield are planning a community festival on the last weekend in November -- on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 November 2016 to be precise -- coinciding with the ever-popular Lancefield Farmers Market. For more information about megafauna, see:

This discovery along with the national significance of Mt William green stone axe quarry for the

Wurundjeri people makes Lancefield a unique historical location. The organising committe are currently finalizing the programme, which will be published in late September / early October. Current project partners are the Wurundjeri Tribe, Museum Victoria, Bendigo Bank, both local primary schools, Neighbourhood House, Landcare, the Show Society, Deakin University, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and many individuals.

Our Story

The purpose of this event is to increase human understanding and knowledge of the ‘Lancefield Swamp’ megafauna site whilst respecting the traditional custodians of the land. The Extinct Lancefield Megafauna Festival will be held on Saturday 24 November 2018 coinciding with the Lancefield Farmers Market. This is the fourth annual Extinct Lancefield Megafauna Festival.
