After 15 Years in the making, tonight we officially opened the Galuwa Recreation Centre. I was disappointed that former Mayors, Andrew Zbik, Pam Palmer and other former Councilors as well as former General Manager Craig Wrightson were not there to share on the milestone, however their hearts and souls will reside in Galuwa forever. You know, I spent some time last weekend watching around 15 mins of a Basketball game being played by some young kids and felt chuffed to have helped deliver a top notch facility that allows them and others to play sport in their own backyard. For me, this is the reasons that were worth the battle to have it built. I want to thank Council staff for their hard work, AJ&C for their design work which was particularly challenging at times, ADCO Constructions for proving once again their prowess in constructing a first class facility, Steensen Varming, for guidence on green initiatives, Forge Venture and all the people that toiled for hours and hours to deliver it. Lane Covian's this is now yours to enjoy.

Over 15 Years in the making, tonight we officially opened the Galuwa Recreation Centre! I was disappointed that former Mayors Andrew Zbik and Pam Palmer as well as former Councillors and former General Manager Craig Wrightson were not present, but their heart and soul will forever reside in Galuwa. I want to thank all Council staff that worked tirelessly in delivering the project, including our partners AJ&C Architects, Stensen Varming, ADCO Constructions, Forge Venture and our operator SSMG. All of you made Councils vision for the project a reality. You know, last weekend I watched 15 minutes of a youth basketball game, and I felt chuffed that I played a hand in the delivery of a first-class facility for locals to play sport in their own back yard, as well as all the other activities that Galuwa provides. Lane Coveian's, the facility is now yours and open for you to enjoy.

📰 Lane Cove Leads the Charge to Clean Energy 🌱

Lane Cove Council has received the largest NSW grant — $1.14 million — from the Federal Government’s Community Energy Upgrades Fund to transform the Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre from gas to electricity.

This significant investment will replace the centre’s gas systems with modern, energy-efficient electric alternatives — cutting emissions, reducing running costs, and helping Lane Cove take a major step toward a cleaner, greener future.

The grant is part of a national $100 million initiative supporting councils across Australia to upgrade community facilities like pools, libraries, and sporting grounds with solar, batteries, and electric systems.

Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen said the upgrades will “deliver a cheaper, cleaner energy future for Australia – proof that what’s good for the planet is good for the pocket.”

Saw something kewl this morning just now walking home. A crow dropped a golf ball on the road as it flew past me and it rolled up Sutherland St coming to rest in the gutter. The crow knew where the golf ball landed, flew to its location, paused to look around, then picked it up and flew away in the opposite way it had come. I managed to snap a few photos...
