Another year has passed where Kevin is no longer with us and our family is still grieving.

Another year has passed with no one held accountable or charged with his death!

Another year that Tasmania Police are wiping their hands clean and wont answer all of our questions into how they have conducted the investigation and there involvement.

Why wont they hold the anyone accountable for his death?

Kevin was alive before the truck collided with all of the vehicles as stated facts in the coroners report. What are they hiding?

We are still fighting to have all of our questions answered and the truth to come to out to the public. This has been a long winded process and due to the uncooperative parties involved.

We wont give up no matter how long it takes!

Kevin wont be forgotten!

We would like to provide an update and comment on the article written by Tess Kelly in the Examiner newspaper on the 13th of August with some of the coronial findings released.

We apologise for the delay in publishing this information to this page, as you all can understand we are still grieving and processing the findings released.

The Examiner has released their view of the findings however this contradicts some of the factual findings realised by the coroner on the 15/07/2024 As per the link below in the comments.

The findings were released however many of our concerns and questions have gone unanswered and unacknowledged by multiple parties involved.

We are still seeking justice we appreciate the ongoing support as we continue throughout these difficult times to seek justice for Kevin and appreciate the community banding together.

2 years since Kevin's life was tragically taken

2 years with lack of information being provided by the Tasmanian Police and Coroner

2 years and the investigation is still in the hands of the coroner

2 years with no one held accountable

2 years since no one has been charged for his death



It has been 2 years since Kevin's life was taken with still no one held accountable, no answers, and no open coronial inquest.


We have been proactively seeking justice for Kevin's death and for the truth to be published.


We know the majority of what occurred that morning thanks to the Tasmanian public however much more is being hidden and not released. We won't stop seeking justice until it all is released to the public. This wasn’t just a simple death or a simple road fatality like it has been described to the public to be.


Currently, as it stands Kevin's investigation is in the hands of the Coroner and is still in ongoing review. Despite numerous follow ups with minimal response.


Last year we submitted a 15-page submission to the Magistrates Court of Tasmania with information regarding to why an inquest should be opened. It has now been an additional 6 months with no further update from the coroner's office as to whether it will be granted or declined, despite a tight deadline for the submission to be presented.


The Tasmania Police and have not been willing to answer any of our questions and they have remained tight-lipped throughout the investigation. We have lodged formal complaints due to major concerns regarding the conduct of the investigation and their involvement in the collisions and the government bodies.

It shouldn't have to take 2 years to receive information. This was always being blamed from the start on lack of funding across the Tasmania Police departments and the Coroner's office with lack of resources and understaffing.

No family or loved one should ever have to go through this. They should have full confidence in the authorities and government representatives to conduct thorough investigations which result in justice. No death should be neglected or swept under the rug.

We will continue to fight for justice to have the truth in detail released on what really happened that morning. Our story will be told and justice served! We have engaged with Tasmanian Politicians and other members of the public to seek support for our cause.


We would like to thank the Tasmania public for coming forward with information and your support. We still are seeking more answers and would like you to come forward if you have any further information that could help us.


We know that Kevin's death could have been prevented in multiple ways and he would still be alive today.

Approximately 3 weeks ago, we sent an email & letters to the Premier of Tasmania, Jeremy Rockliff to get his support and request the Attorney General to request an inquest into the events & crashes that lead to Kevin death in 2022.

We have been advised that his office has received our correspondence and that they are currently being considered.

As far as we know the investigation is still ongoing & the coroner hasn't advised that they have completed the investigation or released their findings at this stage. They haven’t indicated that they want to open an inquest.

431 days have passed with not much information being provided to the family, many questions not answered and no charges laid against the truck driver. With no compassion shown towards the family.

We are calling for Jeremy Rockliff to support our family with this request.

The public needs to know the truth!

Our questions still haven’t been answered!!

WHY has the truck driver not been charged for taking Kevin’s life?

He didn't even have to go to court!!

WHERE was the correct traffic control?

WHY was the Tasmanian police providing an es**rt & why did they stop traffic without the correct support?

WHAT are they hiding?

Today marks 1 year since Kevins life was tragically taken.

** 1 year since & still its under investigation with the Coroner.

** 1 year since with minimal information provided from Tasmania Police & the Coroner.

** 1 year since that no one has been held accountable for his death.

** 1 year since that no one has been charged for his death.

The case is now with the Coroner and the Coroner will do what ever the Coroner wants in the Coroners time frame, we have requested an inquest.

What we do know is that there was multiple factors/peoples that contributed to the lead up of his death that fatal morning.

We also know that his death could of been prevented from happening from actions made by other parties.

With out a full inquest to be completed we have been advised the Coroner can choose what information will be released to victims and family members.

*** WHO IS HIDING WHAT?? There is more to this accident that the public and family doesn’t know about.

*** WHY was the hevey oversized truck getting a es**rt in dark vision in peak hour traffic times on a busy 110k highway on a week day that morning?? Who approved this & why??

We believe multiple people are responsible and the truck driver should have been charged with something.

The family are seeking witnesses to the accident or anyone who can provide any information. We want to hear from you!! It’s the public’s interest to know what really happened and to why it happened.

I cannot explain the impact this has had on the family, or the witnesses to the accident, we hope the two people who were hospitalised are ok.

We are law abiding citizens and respect the fact that the Police Force is understaffed and under resourced, but this cannot be used as an excuse as it has been advised to us on multiple occasions.

Booth backs crash inquest

Former employer of motorcyclist killed in crash says questions need to answered over the accident.

Sawmill owner and former Tasmanian Greens member of state parliament Kim Booth has backed a call for a coronial inquest into factors contributing to the death of his employee Kevin Brooks.

Mr Brooks, 64, was killed in a crash on the Bass Highway about 6.20am on May 25, 2022 and no charges have ever been laid over his death.

He was riding his motorcycle to work when a motionless heavy transport vehicle contributed to a preliminary crash involving several vehicles. A subsequent crash, in which Mr Brooks was hit by a truck, resulted in his death.

Kevin was killed in a crash that demands clear and unambiguous explanations," Mr Booth said.

It beggars belief that a truck could plough into and kill a decent family man with no recriminations."

Mr Brooks' daughter and family members want a coronial inquest to find some answers.

Mr Booth said Mr Brooks was an extraordinary man with whom he had worked closely with since retiring from parliament.

"I had the privilege of calling him a friend," he said.

"You would go a long way to find a smarter, harder-working and decent human being than Kevin and the world is a lesser place without him.

This was an avoidable tragedy that requires a full public coronial inquest and Kevin's family deserve no less."

Mr Booth said it appeared an over dimension load was stopped on the Bass highway in the dark without adequate warning lights.

"Were the regulations around carrying over dimension or overweight loads being followed? " he asked.

"If the regulations allowing a train to be carried on a public highway in the dead of night were being followed , then the regulations are manifestly deficient "

Mr Booth said the responsible minister must explain to every road user why it was seemingly okay to cart the load without adequate warning lights or traffic control.

Mr Booth asked whether Tasmania Police had a role in the heavy vehicle transport.

"Is it that police were present that no charges are being laid," he asked.

"Why wasn't the road closed and where were the hazard lights that would have stopped or warned the drivers that ploughed into vehicles and killed Kevin?"

"If I was still in parliament I would have the Minister on the rack over this and Premier Rockliff should demand his Minster give a full explanation as to why apparently no charges will be laid."

Tasmania Police have said in a statement: "An extensive crash investigation was undertaken, and consultation has occurred with the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding appropriate charges. The matter is now before the Coroner."

We need your help!! WE want Justice for (KEVIN BROOKS)

Kevin Brooks died last year due to an accident on Illawarra Road. The case is now with the Coroner and the Coroner will do what ever the Coroner wants in the Coroners time frame, we have requested an inquest.

My family has been told that it is a very complex case. The short version is………

At approx. 6am the traffic was stopped due to transport of a large vehicle, carrying a train as the traffic was stopped in a 110k zone on the highway. An Amarok driver, crashed into Toyota Hilux which then hit a Mitsubishi Triton which knocked Kevin off his bike (Examiner 04/02/2023). Kevin had removed his helmet and gloves and went to provide assistance. Then a truck crashed into them, causing considerable damage, putting 2 people in hospital and killing Kevin.

The Amarok driver pleaded guilty last week and had to appear in court and received a fine and a recorded conviction, which the family agrees is reasonable and we hope the driver is ok.

THE TRUCK DRIVER HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH ANYTHING!!
DIDN’T HAVE TO GO TO COURT!! - NAME NOT RELEASED & HAS BEEN DEEMED BY POLICE NOT TO BE RESPONSIBLE for the fatal incident that took his life & caused significant damage & injured others.

HOW IS THIS JUSTICE? WHY????? Yes, there is legislation to find someone not responsible, but we do not believe this is an appropriate application of the legislation. But we are not lawyers.

My family and I have been extremely proactive, trying to communicate with the Police, the Accident Investigation, and the Coroner, the majority of our questions have remained unanswered and still do not have full information regarding the accident. We have been advised the Coroner can choose what information will be released to victims and family members.

WHO IS HIDING WHAT?? There is more to this accident that the public and family doesn’t know about.

WHY has the Truck driver not been charged? A scenario from the Coronor’s office to explain this, was about a toddler running out in front of a car and dies, who should be liable. We do not believe this scenario is relevant.

WHERE was traffic control?? We believe the police was providing an es**rt…but you can help us verify this.

We believe someone is responsible and the truck driver should have been charged, 2 hospitalised and a death.
This is just 2 of many questions not answered.
