Half of a ROSE STEREOSCOPIC CARD FROM 1901

George Rose was born in Clunes, Victoria in 1861 and later worked in his father’s boot-making business in Prahran while studying photography. In 1880 he founded the Rose Stereograph Company and became famous for producing stereographs, or stereoviews, which gave the illusion of being in 3D when seen through a hand-held viewer. In 1913, after the world wide decline in popularity of stereographs he turned his attention to the production of postcards which had become very popular in Australia and overseas. He published postcards in Melbourne which included Tasmania views by S. Spurling. Suprlings negatives were acquired by Rose in 1937.
The Rose Stereograph Company first started producing the ‘P Series’ postcards in 1913 and continued until 1967 at which time they switched to machine manufactured colour postcards printed by an outside firm.

Some FB followers may have wondered where the Tasmania Police Museum page disappeared to for the past few months?

Earlier this year the Tasmania Police Museum FB page was, without warning or explanation, unpublished and suspended by FB. Apparently, our page went against the FB Community Standards and was therefore unpublished without any contact or explanation as to what we had done wrong.

After many failed appeals via FB messaging over the past few months, I have finally managed to get the page reinstated with the invaluable assistance of the Tasmania Police Media and Public Communications section. Thank you!

Whilst the Tasmania Police Museum FB page and associated webpage exist to preserve and promote the rich history of policing in Tasmania, and does so with the full permission, support and encouragement of past and present Tasmania Police Commissioners, we are a volunteer run Group and are not an official Tasmania Police FB page or web page.

Just wondering if you all can post on the page? :)
I'm trying to do a bit of revamp, and wanting to make posting easier for you all :)

How have we all been? Have another guessing game for you all :) Where am I? Hint: Northern Tasmania.
