🚒 Yesterday, Graham, Bruce, Sarah and Ross took Hannam Vale 7 to Bulahdelah. After a relatively calm morning blacking out hotspots, they were retasked to stop the spread of a fast-moving fire impacting properties along the Pacific Highway under strengthening winds.
With that threat contained, they were sent to Nerong, switching into property-protection mode as fire approached the township. Thanks to the work of waterbombing aircraft, and having reached their 12-hour fireground limit, the crew was able to be released from Nerong and returned home to rest before the next shift 💪🏼
Over the last several days many members of our brigade, alongside multiple RFS crews and partner agencies, have been actively responding to this fire, working long hours in challenging and dangerous conditions. The fire has been burning for nearly a week and requires a significant, ongoing response. Be aware that our truck is often called out of the valley. Please have a plan and be prepared in case we aren’t nearby when fire threatens.
Here are some photos from yesterday 🔥🚒
