The editor acknowledges and respects the Darug and Gundungurra People, the Traditional Owners of this area. Lawson is situated in the central Blue Mountains and lies between Gundungurra territory to the east and south-east (the great valleys and Upper Blue Mountains) and Dharug territory to the east (Cumberland Plains and Lower Blue Mountains). It is like an island in the middle of the Mountains cut off by deep gorges all around except for narrow access at Bullaburra and Faulconbridge-Linden.

Lawson's famous map of Australia water feature as it was in 1932.
It has recently undergone some restoration work. Hopefully when it has heritage listing more work will be done.
