Firefighters of 359 Station Lawson in July 1989 when the “Flying Scotsman” steam locomotive made its way over the Blue Mountains during centenary celebrations.
Both Lawson’s pumper and tanker were utilised to refill the Flying Scotsman with water for its trip. The Scotsman was accompanied by the 3801 and a diesel locomotive to get over the Blue Mountains as the Scotsman was designed for flatter country in England. It was a bitterly cold night with a southerly wind that went right through you.

The Fire and Rescue NSW Station 359 Lawson crew are incredibly proud to have successfully held our first-ever Soup Kitchen and Grocery Drive last Monday, in collaboration with Community Care Kitchen, who generously sponsored the event.

Held at Skewered in Lawson, the evening brought together more than 100 members of our local community, with hot meals served and a large range of groceries distributed completely free of charge.

The night was about community engagement, supporting one another and making sure those doing it tough knew they were not alone, while also helping local families feel safer and better prepared in their homes.

We sincerely hope the evening provided practical support, valuable fire safety information and a genuine sense of community to everyone who attended.

An event like this simply would not be possible without the generosity of local businesses, volunteers and community members who step forward to support others. 🫕🍔
We would like to sincerely thank Community Care Kitchen for generously sponsoring the event and helping us bring this initiative to life.
A very special thank you to Sandy from Skewered for providing the venue and generously donating ingredients, Matt from Superior Packaging Supplies and Kim from Lawson Cake Shop for their support and contributions.
We would also like to thank Wikileaks Cafe for supplying the delicious sweet treats and donuts 🍩, and the wonderful Chelsea, who baked a beautiful selection of cupcakes 🧁, including vegan and gluten-free options, making sure there was something for everyone and no one was left out.

Your generosity helped us provide hot meals, groceries, fire safety information and, most importantly, a welcoming space for more than 100 members of our local community.
This was a true community effort, and Lawson 359 is incredibly grateful to each and every one of you.
