We are expanding our team of dedicated Bush Fire Brigade Volunteers across the eight brigades in the Shire of Gingin.

The Shire of Gingin has declared a Harvest & Vehicle Movement Ban for today Monday 1st December 2025 from 0900 - 1800hrs in accordance with Section 24C of the Bush Fires Regulations of 1954

Tomorrow, the Shire of Gingin will enter its Restricted Burning Period. You will need a permit to burn grass/bush land, paddocks, garden refuse piles greater than 1m x 1m, or 1m x 1m piles outside stipulated burn times, or multiple 1m x 1m piles.

🔥 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗼𝗻

𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 marks the start of the Restricted Burning Period in the Shire of Gingin. The Restricted Burning Period runs from 1 October to 30 November and from 1 April to 15 May annually. Occasionally the Shire may vary these Burning Periods depending on the weather or other conditions.

🔥 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻

Wondering how the permit to burn process works? Here’s a quick rundown:

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗲 (𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻) 𝗗𝗼:
👉 We issue Permits to Burn and set the terms/conditions under which permitted burning can occur.
👉 Conditions may include (but are not limited to): having 3+ people present at all times, extinguishing burns by specific times, having access to water supply for extinguishing and not burning on days when the wind exceeds certain speeds or when the Fire Danger Rating (FDR) is HIGH or above.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:
🤝 You must comply with the terms/conditions outlined on your permit or you run the risk of a fine and fire escape.
📲 This includes registering burns with DFES and notifying nearby landowners.
❗️ Remember, don’t burn when the FDR is HIGH or above! It is a condition of your permit! Burning on a HIGH FDR day risks fines and fire escape.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗙𝗘𝗦:
📝 DFES simply registers your burn but doesn’t enforce, police or advise on Shire conditions regarding your permit to burn.

🔥 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱

Pursuant to Section 17 (7) of the Bushfires Act 1954, it is hereby notified that the Prohibited Burning Period within the Shire of Gingin has been extended until:

📅 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧, 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟭𝟰 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

‼️ During this time 𝗡𝗢 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 is permitted for any reason. This includes open cooking or camp fires.
