A future home for football, cricket and community is taking shape in Serpentine-Jarrahdale!

The Keirnan Park Recreation Precinct has now reached its halfway construction milestone, marking a major step towards delivering an exciting new sporting and recreation hub. When complete, the precinct will feature two senior AFL ovals, cricket nets, a large pavilion, parking, scenic landscaping and more!

It’s another step forward for the WA Government ‘PlayOn WA’ initiative, helping guide 2,030 sport and recreation infrastructure projects across the State through to 2030.

A new shared path now connects the park to Serpentine town centre, making it safer and more accessible for people to walk, ride and explore one of the region’s most popular natural attractions.

The 2.3km link connects locals, visitors, schools, businesses and community spaces, creating new opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and discover more of what Serpentine has to offer.

Whether you're heading to the falls, riding with friends or enjoying a morning walk, there's now a smoother path to get there.

🏊‍♀️ Every second counts, and now they're easier to track.

A new digital scoreboard and training equipment are helping Rockingham Swimming Club support swimmers at every level, from training sessions to race day.

Thanks to these improvements, swimmers can focus on what matters most: chasing personal bests, building confidence and enjoying the sport.

Supported through the WA Government 's PlayOn WA, these upgrades are helping create better experiences in and around the pool for the club's ever-growing swimming community.

🌟 The volunteers who keep community sport moving.

Celebrate Emma Streich and Joshua Seah with us through the WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program.

🐯 Emma Streich has helped make inclusion a cornerstone of her club. Through initiatives like the award-winning Tiny Tiger Mentor Program, she has created opportunities for children with disabilities and additional needs, while helping grow female participation to 47 per cent and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome.

⛸️ Joshua Seah is proving leadership has no age limit. While balancing his final year of school and preparing to represent Australia at the Junior World Short Track Championships, he has dedicated his time to coaching and mentoring younger skaters at the Western Flames Ice Racing Club, helping build confidence and a love of the sport.

Congratulations to Emma and Joshua on this well-deserved recognition.

⚽💙 Two young footballers and memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanks to KidSport, Luca from Murdoch University Melville Football Club and Tymur from Rockingham United were among the young football fans who experienced the Juventus v Inter clash at Optus Stadium.

For Luca, it was his very first live football match after years of loving the game. For Tymur, seeing world-class players up close left him so inspired he told his parents he wanted to train harder, work harder and chase his own football dreams.

Moments like these are what sport is all about. Inspiring the next generation, bringing families together and creating memories that last long after the final whistle.

Thank you to Luca, Tymur and their families for sharing their stories with us.

⚽🧵 Every stitch tells a story.

Before the first ball of Calcio Italiano was kicked in Perth, local maker Emily Hessell was busy creating a special set of handcrafted footballs to mark the event.

Made from kangaroo leather and hand-stitched tile by tile, each ball took up to 12 hours to complete and was presented to AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and Palermo FC as official gifts during their visit.

In this video, Emily shares the craftsmanship behind her work, captured before the tournament brought a little taste of Italy to WA.

Now that the final whistle has blown, it's a fitting way to look back on a memorable month of football, culture and connection.

More than 500 community sport and recreation assets delivered, with more to come🏃‍♀️🏉🚴

From clubrooms and courts to lighting, playing fields and aquatic facilities, these projects are helping local clubs welcome more participants, support growing communities and create more inclusive spaces for people of all ages and abilities.

With 384 projects completed across metropolitan WA and 158 in regional communities, the momentum is building as PlayOn WA works towards delivering 2,030 community sport and recreation assets by 2030.

Every project tells a local story. A club growing stronger. A community coming together. A new opportunity to get active.
