MONDAY NIGHT DRILL NIGHT. Tonights drill was dedicated to bushfire behaviour, including using the drip torch, setting up hose, and discussing techniques for planned burns & what to do in an over run situation.

Drop in and Say Gday to the Fire and Rescue Crews supporting the Firies Climb for MND 2026 at Scenic World till 3pm Today, Firefighters from FRNSW and NSWRFS are tackling the 951 Stairs Down and Back Up in support of this much needed research.

MONDAY NIGHT, DRILL NIGHT.

Last night's drill focused on search and rescue skills for our newer crew members, with initial door entry, then search and rescue with helmet visors covered for low visibility in our engine bay set up with many obstacles. Their task was to find 2 bodies in amongst the chaos, and to think 'outside the box' to where occupants could possibly be.

Our more senior members did a theory session on bushfire response, including first arriving tasks and how they would set up and prepare for a bushfire at certain locations in our local Leura area. They then constructed a dam using multiple items all carried in our truck to show another way we can retain/provide water in a bushfire situation

Last night's drill was joint with our friends at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 495 Wentworth Falls at Wentworth Falls Lake, we had a house fire scenario set up with limited water supply, with the goal being 495's tanker draughting from the lake to provide our pump with water to provide an uninterrupted water supply for firefighting operations

Today, we were lucky enough to welcome some very special visitors to the station—the wonderful Kindergarten class from Leura Public School ! 🧑‍🚒🚒

The kids had a busy and exciting morning with us, learning some vital lessons on home fire safety and exactly what to do in an emergency. After the serious stuff was out of the way, they got a full behind-the-scenes tour of the station, wrapping up a with a climb through the Fire Truck!

A massive thank you to the teachers and Leura Public School for organizing the visit. We hope the kids had as much fun exploring the station as we did hosting them!

At our drill last night, Firefighter Glen Nadarajah was presented with his Deputy Captain epaulettes and a celebratory cake following his recent promotion!

Glen has been an on-call firefighter at Leura 361 for over six years. Initially having the role for many years as our Engine Keeper, he works tirelessly to keep both our fire truck and support vehicle in top condition, while consistently dedicating his time to the crew and the local community.

Congratulations on the promotion, D/C Glen! 🚒
