Working alongside children, young people and their families is a constant reminder of the strength, resilience and potential that exists within every family and community. 🫶🏻❤️

We chatted to Senior Practitioner of the HOPE Program, Kristen, on the importance of celebrating and empowering children and young people, now and in the future.

"This International Youth Day, I'm reminded of the importance of creating spaces where children and young people feel safe, heard and supported to be themselves. When families are empowered and connected with the right support, children and young people are better able to build confidence, develop resilience and pursue the goals that matter most to them.

One of the most rewarding parts of my role at HOPE is seeing the positive impact that is possible when we walk alongside families. Supporting families means supporting children and young people too, and it's a privilege to see them grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and thrive.

Today is a reminder that when we invest in children and young people, we strengthen families, communities, and the future we all share. Every child and young person deserves to feel valued, supported and empowered to reach their potential."

To our nurses, care workers, care partners, allied health professionals, volunteers, cleaners, gardeners, administration, scheduling and support teams - thank you. Defuse 4 Dads is a new program that's recently launched at our Fairfield site. The 6-week program offers a safe and supportive space for dads who want to better tune into and manage their emotions and respond more calmly at home.

The program focuses on helping dads understand what drives strong emotions and learn practical ways to cope during difficult moments.

"Going to the group, I've gained a better understanding of my emotions. I've learned ways to stay more calmer when things become tough and I know now how to focus on communicating respectfully.

Defuse 4 Dads' helped me to be a better dad and be closer to my family and kids."

Please note that this service is not suitable for men who have used violence towards partners. Other appropriate support services are available through CatholicCare Sydney.

Our next group starts mid-August. To find out more or enquire, please call 13 18 19.

*Please note that the quote has been changed to protect client's identity.
