Fantastic night at the Granville/Parramatta Libertarian Public Forum at Granville RSL.

Great to see a fantastic community turnout to discuss issues important to them affecting the lives of everyday Australians.

Today Libertarian MP John Ruddick grilled Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig at Budget Estimates Committee over Cumberland City Councils continued refusal for public transparency in answering if ratepayers were charged for mayor Ola Hamed’s security arrangements outside her house for roughly 3 months and whilst she was overseas in a DFAT No Travel Zone.

In a big win for ratepayers John Ruddick and the Libertarian team managed to secure a commitment from the Local Government Minister that himself and the Office of Local Government will investigate this issue.

Whilst Cumberland City Council tried to hide this matter behind closed doors after I took this matter to Council demanding public transparency the NSW Libertarian Party ensured that this matter will be investigated and not buried.

The NSW Libertarian Party is the only party fighting against Council Rate Rise Increases and ensuring Ratepayer money spent is transparent and open to the public.

Resident anger is mounting regarding Councils refusal to answer questions about security arrangements outside the Mayor’s Ola Hamed’s house for roughly three months.

This letter from a local resident is asking for long overdue transparency specifically if Council funded the 7 day a week security service and if council paid for security guards whilst the mayor was overseas for close to four weeks.

Given that residents have endured two council rate rises in 14 months they have every right to be upset and ask these questions.

(The resident gave permission for their correspondence to be posted online. I have chosen not to share their personal details)
