It was fantastic to see so many people at the Yarra Ranges Volunteer Expo! 🙂

More than 200 community members joined us at the Civic Centre to connect with 30 local organisations and discover the many ways they can get involved in their community.

From children's programs and youth initiatives to environmental groups and community resilience organisations, there was something for everyone to explore.

A huge thank you to all the organisations, volunteers and community members who helped make the day such a success. Your passion, knowledge and willingness to connect with others showcased the incredible volunteer spirit that exists across Yarra Ranges.

🌐 If you missed the Expo, there are still plenty of other opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the community. Visit our website to discover where you can volunteer: https://www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Our-services/Health-and-wellbeing/Volunteer

Ready to take volunteering for a spin? 🏎️💨

The Yarra Ranges Volunteer Expo is rolling into Lilydale this month — and alongside 20 local organisations and community groups, you’ll also have the chance to test your skills on the track with the Melbourne Remote Control Circuit Racers.

Put your reflexes to the test, zoom around the circuit, and discover all the different ways you can get involved in your community while you’re there.

Who says volunteering can’t be fun?

Big ideas start with young voices 💡

Young people across Yarra Ranges are creating positive change in their community through Change Squad – a new Council pilot program helping local students learn about civic life, build leadership skills and turn ideas into action.

Grade 5 and 6 students from Warburton Primary School, Millwarra Primary School, Wesburn Primary School and Yarra Junction Primary School are taking part in classroom activities, developing ideas to improve their community and preparing to pitch them to Council for the chance to receive some funding to help bring them to life.

Last week they also visited the Civic Centre to take part in a range of activities – including meeting the Mayor!

Stay tuned over the coming weeks as we share more from the program and introduce some of the incredible young changemakers involved.
